Here in America they love to sale you these drinks in big paper or foam cups, and they feel them full

is a bunch of ice, restaurants do this to save money. The local KFC and Taco bell place is the worst,
it makes me gag it tastes so bad, I also think some businesses turn on the tap water and add
that to the cup to help fill it up.

This may have flipped, but I don't think so: when you order fountain/postmix soda, the highest "food cost" is usually the disposable cup and the ice.

When I was a kid working at Taco Hell (KFC and Taco Bell are both owned by YUM brands and use Pepsi products), we were told only 1/3 of the cup should be filled with ice for that very reason. But the pricing now is insane - the reason they can afford "free" refills is that you'd probably have to refill nearly a dozen times before you even come close to getting what you paid for and eat through the mark up.

And, as far as I know, almost every TB/KFC now has self-serve soda fountains, so you can control the soda/ice ratio yourself. At least in the US - may be different elsewhere.

Hate eating out unless it is some special occasion with friends or family.
KFC chicken sucks now I only order their boneless chicken rice bowl which still taste good.

Is it local, though, or Mexican? What started this yesterday was Uncbuck talking about "Mexican" Coke, which uses the "original" cane sugar recipe rather than corn syrup. While they can and bottle it all different ways for the Mexican market, I believe only the glass bottles get exported to the US, while the "US" recipe (using corn syrup) is what you find here typically, and mostly in cans and different sizes of plastic (or postmix for fountains). Glass gets used here some, but it tends to be small batch and limited now. So, while we have it in every container type available, for the Mexican Coke, we only have it in the glass bottles around here. All the other container types are US recipe.

Local Coke went to high-fructose corn syrup then back to sugar after HFCS tax was increased two times compared to sugar.
Glass Coke also taste better or maybe just fresher idk haha.
Also realized Coke prices abroad is overpriced hahaha...

I make good money, and my ass still orders water at a restaurant. I'm an absolute cheapskate, and hate how places charge extra for that stuff. 8 bucks for a 6 pack of beer, and bars are like 4-6 per bottle.

I eat before going to the Theater, because I don't feel like paying $12+ dollars for a drink and some popcorn, ridiculous concession prices. I will splurge for a Dine-In Theater, every 6 months or so. I had a $110k car, technically my realistic dream car at the time, that had close to 900 a month insurance. I chose to sell it. The Insurance actually dropped after I sold it and bought something cheaper with better fuel efficiency.

A lot of places make you request a refill at the Counter, since Covid. I don't eat out much, so not 100% on that, as of the last couple months. BK and McDonald's still allow self refills. I know a lot of places the drinks taste like shit, I believe you said you're in TX, too? I know they have those little plastic sacks, and the ratio is usually all messed up, you can tell they're way watered down and the water often tastes terrible. They are either diluted with too much water, not enough syrup, or not enough carbonation. When you see a mostly clear drink being dispensed when supposed to be something dark, you're about to have a bad time. Maybe the water sucks, maybe their machine isn't clean, maybe they need to calibrate some shit, who knows? Root Beer is almost decent a lot of the time, especially if it foams up good.

Some places are exceptions, like those new Wendy's with the on screen selection for drinks, like they have at Firehouse Subs.

Outside of the obvious answer being the thing I am blessed to come home to every day, the next answer would be this community and especially certain members of it. I've said it before and I'll say it many times more, this community is amazing and it brightens my days to come home, spend time with my family and then relax being a part of this second family as well.

I mentioned in a previous answer that I may mention my first daughter in one of your earlier QOTD's and this is the one.

If I could be anyone for a day, I would want to be my first daughter.

She was a gift to me by the ex prior to my wife. At that time, my wife and I lived in separate states and hadn't spoken in years but not by choice. I've had feelings for my wife ever since we were kids and thought I'd never see her again so all of my interactions with women after her were melancholic at best and actively self-destructive at worst. This one started off very self destructive and I should have seen warning signs from the start but I was in a very bad place and this particular ex showed up and seemed very understanding and loving at the time.

We ended up in a relationship which was a rollercoaster to put it mildly and more and more red flags started to show up that something wasn't quite right with her, mentally. (It turned out later, after the attempted stabbing, that she has BPD - Borderline Personality Disorder)

By the time I started seeing the red flags, though, she'd gotten pregnant and I'd already opened up to her about appreciating certain.. Japanese art.. and she seemed accepting.

And then, she had a miscarriage.. and the grief ruined us both but it broke her. I don't know if it just forced the twisted parts of her mind to the surface to be seen or if it was grief and pain that truly broke her but she started blaming me, insinuating that I would have hurt our daughter because I liked this art, and eventually venomously spat out that she was glad our daughter died because she wouldn't want her anywhere near someone "sick" like me. All of this on the same day we learned the news.

I was boiling with rage at her, but all I could do was coldly tell her that anyone that could ever be glad for the death of their child - our little girl - wasn't just a monster but a soulless shell that clearly never felt or could ever feel love, and I walked away and outside - which I usually tried to do in moments like these. Typically after the venom was unleashed, I'd go for a walk or a drive, things would calm in a few hours and we'd get back to some semblance of normality again in a few days.

This time, though, I only got a few steps outside our door - which I slammed HARD which (thankfully) alerted the neighbors - when I heard her scream at me from behind and before I could react she'd already cut me several times before I managed to grab her wrists.

..if I could be anyone, I would want to be my unborn daughter - even if only for a day - so that I could know if she felt happiness at all. Could she hear me singing to her? Did she know I called her my Little Rose? Did she feel any pain..? And if she did.. I'd want to be her for every second of that pain so she would never have to feel it.

Well, that depends. Conventional pet or ANY pet?

Because my first ever pet would be something a lot of people wouldn't consider a pet.

My first pet was a golden silk orb weaver. A little surprise gift from some banana crates my family bought for a big family get together for making banana bread.

Little boy Lazarus saw this big spider crawl out, spinning golden silk and was transfixed with wonder. I begged my father to let me take care of it and he reluctantly agreed but she became a part of the family eventually. Even managed to mostly cure my mother of her arachnophobia. She still isn't a fan, but the "phobia" (the fear) is gone. She held Celeste more than once without issue.

Turned out that the "big" spider little boy Lazarus found would get a whole lot bigger over the course of that year!

Something funny about me: I recently downloaded Koikatsu Sunshine and spent about 8 hours just playing around making characters and only about 1 hour actually playing, other games like The Sims 4 I spend more time making families and residences than playing. I'm a miser, I spend only on my hobbies, everything else is a pro and con, if I opt into spending money, with exceptions some times. It's pretty much being broke to well-off via divorced parents, and working 2 jobs in college while I double majored. I would head to the tianguis and pick up fresh, cheap fruits and veggies. Get 1 pound of steak, cook and freeze it, to put in instant Ramen with an egg, so I got some actual nutrition. I'd also dry cabbage and mushrooms, had to make it fancier.

My College Hobbies were reading, gaming, and watching movies, while having to budget. Plus only sleeping a few hours a night, my habits haven't changed.

I do have -fuck it- days and actually gift myself things I often cite as solely luxurious, and unneeded. I'm an oddball, but I figure it's better than living above my means, and having to stress about not having money.

I have a huge backlog, and a lot of games in EA tend to get worse before they get better. Especially if they break their original vision and cater to fan input. When they get abandoned, it also annoys the hell out of me, I would just buy them to support their effort, but then you get bad stuff like Stray Souls. Last EA game I can remember getting was Pine Harbor, I believe? Started off interesting with the demo, I'm a bit mixed on it now. I literally have 5-6 unopened games in the last few months, and the ones I did open were only opened because my OCD was triggered about the disc that was bouncing around inside the case. Or I played 1 game for an hour and didn't go back because I was busy and doing something else.

that realy depens on where you live. If you live in the USA and you are in constat danger of hurricanes, tornados, fires or earthquakes... well you are better of renting, then owning a cardboard home. In cental europe you only have floodings in certain areas and houses tend to be build like tanks. Prices for property are insane everywhere anyway
