Oh for sure, especially room transitions with modern controls because of the camera placement, in one room holding left could be forward but now you have entered another room and left is actually down, up becomes right, right becomes up and down becomes left.

Whereas tank controls holding up will always be move the character forward, left and right will always turn, and down will always be back up no matter where the camera is at

Oh right, and at least when there's a loading screen you have a bit of "time to adapt/react" to it, but when it's a dynamic room/camera change, holy you can end up spinning until you stop moving

It gets deeper than that cuz of how fluid and fantastic RE1MAKE was for the controls cuz the alternative method (the non tank control one) can seamlessly change when holding the button down and still going the right turn that you make when you get to the next hall. I think they did a good job with pulling that off.

Hope your day goes well, and yeah, I've seen that they are on GOG, I'll potentially pick them up someday to try the originals again or at least just to have them

The RE1 HD is supposed to be pretty much the same as OG1 with maybe a few slight tweaks and updated graphics from what I remember, can't remember how far I ever got on the original on Playstation

The only thing I really remember from OG 2 is fighting the stupid alligator in the sewers, I remember that being awful on the n64 version

As far as 3 I can't remember either way if I ever played that one, it probably would have been at a friend's house if I did

Yeah, the enemy randomizer can be really fun, especially in really narrow hallways

I never gave the alternative control options a chance to learn anything like that, I tried it long enough to see that it was absolutely wrecking which direction i was heading after room transitions and said nope, I'm just sticking with tank controls

I can see that, I just never liked how non fluid tank controls were when you really had to dodge the enemy and maneuver just right until I did the alternative controls.

You can really break they ankles in style when you got it right.
