You kinda can't deviate much from this without making MC a complete manipulator creep. There are only two option if daughter is into daddy: daddy jumps straight into daughter pussy, or daughter has to guilt trip daddy into jumping into her pussy. You could make things more nuanced probably but it would involve taking things much slower and 80% of players would complain of blue balling or something like that

A lot of creators are just going to try what's been popular in the past, especially if it's a source of income. The same argument can be made in music where most hits are now specifically written with a 1-5-6-4 chord progression or one of its variants as these are the most 'catchy' and therefore more likely to sell
For example "Hair", "Paparazzi" and "The Edge of Glory" by Lady Gaga all have 1-5-6-4 chord progression but (my opinion only) don't come close to Bob Marley's "No Woman No Cry" which has it also.
This means you often end up with something you find passable but ultimately uninspiring.

Might be just that I'm getting old or something but it seems like a few years ago, you'd check the various sites and almost every week there'd be a new game or an update to a game that was incredible. Like 2-3 games a week being updated that were just really good, really decent stories that had good renders and animations, tolerable writing, etc.

And some of those games are still out there and still being worked on, with updates periodically.
But for the last few months it feels like there's so many games that are following the fetishes/trends that I'm not really into, or that just don't spend any real time on animations/renders, or that just follow the same templates as all the other popular games.
I mean, I like Harem games for example but it seems like almost every Harem game is copying the most popular few harem games and I can't even tell you how many "Dad that's fucking his daughters, wife, sister, nieces, their friends, etc" games that follow almost exactly the same plot.

2. Hide it from wife.
3. Sister comes back into life due to a divorce from her husband.
4. Fuck sister like you always used to.

Why isn't anybody coming up with unique stories anymore? Why are all the games feeling the same?

Because the formula you described has already proven quite successful when executed well. Of course, now we are oversaturrated with games like that and newer ones seem late to the party. With time, new trends will probably emerge, but for now - the incest formula still rules them all. In the meantime, try Intertwined if you are looking for a different story.

To be fair, this is not an easy environment to work with: funds will always be an issue and a lot of people need to train relevant skills in order to make it. Like I can code, but I can't draw for shit, and my story needs work. The price of entry is steep for game dev in general, and in porn dev it is even more so.

Its too bad really that there aren't NSFW games that are made by studios that can commit to making solid games with a start climax and finish. Instead there are a bunch of crappy games that will get maybe 10 people on patreon or Sstar, fizzle out and die.
