As I remember the Egyptian pharoahs HAD to marry a sister. That goes way outside what the European royal/noble families did. Caligula was supposed to have with his sisters, but the Romans found that upsetting. Cousin marriage is still common in some parts of the US, and was more so before - even with the girl young - both Edgar Allen Poe and Jerry Lee Lewis married their 13 year old cousin (though that ended the latter's career...)

Didn't know about Zoroastrianism (which is mostly gone after the Muslim conquest of what was the Persian Empire.) There was a mainstream movie out in the 1990s called Sleepwalkers. A vampire mom and son (the villains) slept together. For some reason in the movie cats were the vampires mortal enemies (and could hurt them.)

I was playing a couple of incest games the other day and I found myself thinking about how it's weird that most incest games have to be censored you have to either patch them or redefine the relationships when you start the game. Now obliviously I know that most crowdfunding platforms have standards and regulations the creators must abide by, but I think it's weird that they allow other games with taboos that are way worse than incest to be supported on their platforms. Gore, vore, violence, animals, furrys, scat, murder, monsters, drugging and r*ping but one mc wants to bang his mom and suddenly every one loses their minds. Now it may not be as simple as that and I apologize for ignorance, but it just sucks seeing games that I liked and supported have to be reworked, put on pause, or just abandoned because the crowding platforms think that's a step to far. Well either way I just wanted to get that off my chest and here's a few pictures of old incest games I liked.

If I remember correctly, there are some countries where incest is prohibited by law (Ex: United States). I think it's more for that reason than anything else.

I think it's the majority of countries - at least once it gets closer than cousins. I can't imagine ANY allow parent-child.

Sames goes for father and son.
Incest laws mostly only care about possible reproduction, so same sex is mostly allowed.
Well, with one restriction: Marriage, but thats a leftover from christian influence, same sex marriage is generally still on the new/rare side of laws.

It is amazing that the US make such a fuzz out of gay marriage promoting it almost as a new norm, but still 24 of its member states haven't legalized a marriage between cousins.
I actually had an affair with my first cousin. If we wanted to marry, in my country it is completely legal, though many people still frown upon it. But we just wanted to have some fun. The semi-taboo status of it just increased the thrill.

Yes, I find that strange as well.

On one hand, many sexual behaviours that used to be taboo (homosexuality, transsexuality, but also adultery in the various forms, e.g. NTR, cuckolding, cheating, swinging) are normalised, even seem to be promoted, and it's frowned upon if one dares to say anything against it.

On the other hand, things that used be quite common, such as cousin marriage, are made illegal. And just having a normal, heterosexual, monogamous marriage is deemed boring and bourgeois, and perhaps even suspicious.
