Continue making game or improve early chapters?

Like others have said, I really do dislike it when the devs go back and "remaster" earlier parts of the game. If they want to improve their game, they should take what they wanted to improve, and use that in the next chapters of the game.

Def should make new chapters. If they want to go back and remaster they should just do it at the end of game. Don't really want to replay something I already played and enjoyed.

The problem often is, that dev didn't think out the end game, and got stuck some where. How do you want to finish the game now?
.
Other option is dev started using a new renderer-programm (version), and the result is much better than in earlier chapters (Now agree with you).
.
Another possible situation could be that dev lets his game decide by patreons, some direction, he didn't think off, or they want more content.
.
Last option, the people didn't like a certain character, for example the ugly neighbor in maid to please. She got removed, not sure what kind of change in the story that needed.
.
So I think only the first is a reason to go back, but then again dump dev.
If you look at Origin Story (and probably anything from NLT), dev already had the whole story inclusive all the details planned about before starting the rendering...

There are valid reasons to do it. When it happens it tends to push the game to the bottom of the play queue until they get things sorted which in some of these dev cycles and relegate it to the graveyard.

i mean new is better and if the dev actually hate his first renders he can work on them once the game is finish or close to, a patch to change what u already see feel cheap but sometime it help

There are games, where the dev was a beginner in the sart with DAZ/Honey Select/whatever, so the early renders not so good, and a remaster would make good to the game; but in my experience, when a dev begin to rework his game, instead of making new content, is a almost-sure sign of a dying project.

New chapters for sure, keep the game going. Agree with what various others have already said, if want to improve/upgrade earlier parts of the game – great – but do it once the game is finished. Fixing some bugs that have been identified in previous releases is fine so someone playing for the first time doesn't have to deal with them – but don't let this hold up the overall progress in the game or be the only thing presented as 'new content' in a 'new version'.

Yeh exactly, that's what I see happening often...

I only agree about remaster to a finish avn. They can fix some text error grammar and such or fix some image but doing a remaster is a not good for unfinished avn.

Definitly new. If old ones were good enough that people played it's good enough to stay a bit more

Continue new chapters and ending and then finished you can make a remake, as the developer of the game Family at home 1 and now it is going to be remake

New chapters definitely, if devs just change the visuals its kinda unnecessary unless they overhaul the entire story

I think it's a better option to improve the first chapters.

I used to think that if a game was very advanced it was best to keep making the game and if the game wasn't very advanced it was a better option to improve the first chapters
Although I recently saw that they started to improve the first chapters of both a game that was already very advanced and one that wasn't so advanced, and it greatly improved the quality of the game, as well as the appearance of the characters, they removed things that were filler and didn't contribute anything to the story, and they added new scenes and dynamics that greatly improved the game

I prefer they continue making new chapters, instead of they going back improving early chapters while the game still has not been completed.

i would say finish what you started before going back to to improve older stuff unless the older renders are pixelated/grainy/low quality then i can kinda understand

In some games you can see the dev improve over the chapters of the VN they make.
Do you prefer they continue making new chapters or improve/upgrade earlier chapters?
Finish the story first. The only reason a dev should revisit previous chapters before full release is to fix bugs.

Normally I would say to continue making the game, but I can see the argument with improving the earlier chapters.

Good eg. of this would be Being a Dik, when we look at the later episodes, the UI is so much better compared to the 1st few

Forgot to say that the only reason to look back and fix previous chapters rather than continuing forward would be either bugs or gamer-effing content, whatever it is.

2 options:

1) he didn't like the rendering in an earlier part, I would say so what, get over it, continue the chapters.

2) dev got stuck because he didn't think about how to story should continue.

I would suggest this last point dev doesn't have another option than to go back. But still then, like we saw in summer gone, everyone starts to complain because of scenes getting erased that we liked.
