Disney+ was so in need of subscription padding they ran a promotion in Spain where they gave 100%FREE 50" smartTVs(they gave other things too, but that was the right choice) in exchange for having a 3 years 100% FREE subscription to Disney+ added to your TV package for almost all providers.

I remember seeing this on Twitter at least couple years ago. I thought it turned out to be bullshit.
It was a cable provider partnership that got you 3 years of Disney+ or a TV. (which just happened to have Disney+ streaming pre-installed)

I agree with you on that, it is a real pity that those kind of series have become the norm nowadays with the House of the rainbow mouse being the major supporter of that.

I remember watching episode 7,8,9 and thinking that it was some kind of fanfiction made movie, it has one of the most ridiculous premises of this new generation of movies with rey being a Mary Sue that surpassed sith that have being trained for most of their life by some of the most powerful beings in the universe with only a 15 minute trainingmontage, but the thing that I remember the most is wanting to edit the part when rey destroys the enemy fleet with her powers in the last movie, so that she shouts "White Power" as the enemy fleet is blasted to oblivion in the most posible meme way and then watch the world burn.

It all honesty, Disney has become a cesspool of wokism and ultra feminism that at this point just want to ruin every movie posible for the heck of it.

Any other other series I would say read it first. But I can't stand how Tolkien writes,so my vote goes the the extended trilogy on this one.

More than one thing annoyed me in Hobbit, but since it were more than a decade ago, I don't remember. But one thing I do remember is that he kept spoiling his own story, like "the dwarf said goodbye to the bird saying they wouldn't met again, but he were wrong as the bird later saved him from a fall from the mountain" or whatever.
But I've heard many people say that Hobbit is written very differently from LotR, so that's why I'm not opposed to at least trying it.

If you don't want to know the way the stories actually unfold, then don't read the books - the movies, while well done, leave out some essential chapters and change the relationships and actions for "dramatic effect". Just did a reread after nearly 40 years and am now a little bit down on the movies. Some of the stuff wasn't as bad as The Hobbit movies (characters and story lines from whole cloth), but Tolkien is definitely worth the read if you want to experience the fantasy series that has been the inspiration for so many of the series that have followed. Some of it is a bit goofy, but the folks that tend to not like his writing are those that don't like deep descriptive writing, but only want things to go straight to a point. I like to paint an image of the surroundings of the books I read in my head - Tolkien's writing allows you to do that.

EDIT: Of course, be aware that Tolkien was writing the books more than 80 years ago (published about 70 years ago), when some words retained their original meanings. So, don't get offended if he talks about a gay atmosphere or throwing a couple of faggots on the fire

Yes it is in perfect condition. He is a pc tech and got it when it was not work and trashed out. He told everyone he will fix it but they laughed at this idea. he took everything apart and rebuilt to the spec of those early/middle 1980s Apple pc. It have lot of floppy disk stuff and I think needs a flopy disk to boot up. No idea about the floppy disk size. its the very old large size. I think. sorry i don't even know about them really. it is literally floppy disk. I think newer ones was much smaller and in plastic case? I forgot what exactly they are in size. He also have one of first IMB pc also. its actually amazing to see these things. I told him I want his old game consoles ect.. You are right, they are very rare to even see those old Apple pc. its very cool. He even asked me for my old Sony Laptop. It is dead but ehh guess he love those things to try and fix or part out.

Well, it might be worth a couple bucks- the fact that he's fixed/replaced parts might reduce the value. It's kind of like old, vintage cars. The car might be worth money, but if you've done any body or engine work and added aftermarket parts...it's technically not "original".

I just saw that not 20 minutes ago from a developer I follow on Discord. Of course, I also just saw where a number of big developers just got their Patreon accounts under review. The Patreon team went on the other major site we know and found the fan made incest patch and used that to freeze their Patreon. Ironically, the developer doesn't even post on that other site but he's getting hit for a fan patch. Admittedly, I'm certain he designed his game to be patched in that way, but still!

Not quite that descriptive, but it will take a couple of lines to describe a type of tree found only in the Elven Kingdom of Lothlorien, and similar types of things.

The books are a medium level read for a decently educated English speaker, so you can get through all three in a week or so if you read a couple hours a night. It helps to know a few of the differences between "British" English (Tolkien's English) and American English, if American English is what you know.

One amusing part of my reread: after having seen the movies so many times, I was able to put the voices of the actors to the various characters and use the actors when envisioning the characters in the book. If you would like to be able to do that, watch first, then read. The books have more story to them than the movies, and have additional characters playing important roles that aren't in the movies; likewise, some of the characters in the movies play a greater role than in the books.

While I think that everyone that is a fan of Tolkien from one direction or the other should both read the books and watch the LotR movies, I'm torn on what direction one should go. I normally suggest books first, but, in this case, movies first wouldn't be a bad way to go, especially since you already have them.
