What make you love skyrim in the first place?

I was in love with it before I even played it because I enjoyed Oblivion so much. The game is huge...which I love. And the mods make it a feast for the eyes.

The opening scene. Greatest of all time. Lol. But really it is the modding community. It is why I don't think starfield will be nearly as successful. Obviously disregarding all the problems with starfield, I don't think it is nearly as bad as people make it out to be. However the inspiring love and tlc that the community gave to skyrim was legendary. And is the main reason why people are still playing the game over a decade since its release.

Medieval, freedom to do what you want, and the mods make them 1000 times better. The best game in history

I don't actually like vanilla skyrim. Weak story, mid visuals, mostly repetitive questing.
It's the mods that elevate it to god tier status.

Really good sandbox medieval setting. The combat fun and exploration/side quests feels rewarding (Well, mostly). Never played with mods, but theres a lot for whichever taste you like

it's very customisable, and you have mods to improve the playing experience

I initially played Oblivion and then saw Skyrim. There was something special about the Quests.
Then the mods came and that changed a lot for gamers.

Like many other, just the world and the sidequests, the lore and the NPCs.
I've ignored the main quest for soooo long on that game xD

The mods.
Honestly, i played my unmodded skyrim till riverwood and then i thought "fuck it, cant stand these ugly oldtimers" and almost deleted it...then i found tes nexus...and sexlab...and rcots/skykids/hpl...since then i play it at least once per month.

Skyrim (and the previous Elder Scrolls) are all classic examples of the total being greater than the sum of its parts. Nothing about them is perfect, but its a lot of really good things held together with duct tape and dreams.

Simply put ! Modding ! I created over 500 gig of mods for Skyrim. After playing through it, I said, Hey if this happened or that happened then it would enhance this so much more.
So I created and wrote a few different story lines and add-ons. That started my interest in creating.

good: the nonlinearity and lots of sidequests; i actually find the main quest really boring and avoid it as much as possible.
bad: at a certain point it feels like there's a dragon in your way every hundred yards

I like the amount of things to explore and the dragons were cool. But I played Fallout afterwards, and that setting and having guns played much better, too me.
Fair. They both offer some wonderful exploration but giving two very unique worlds to experience.

After hearing about all these mods available. You might be able to find one for Skyrim with guns. 😆

I have played the game hundreds of hours, and barely even started the main quest for probably 90% of those. Was always a fan of just wandering off
