[Site News] Members+ Requirement System Update

Honestly I dig these new changes, it makes getting M+ more than just being a credit farm and the log in timer is an interesting way to go about preventing trolls, although to be fair, if a troll is determined enough they too will go through the hassle of getting M+ just to attempt to stroke their egos with what ever it is they try to do, the only thing I'm unsure of is the likes requirement, I don't hate it or anything and I can't even begin to think of an alternative, nor am I asking for change but I feel it's a bit too RNG to rely on, no?

Now I'm not complaining when I say this, but as an example, when I'm writing a post I do my best to put effort into what I'm trying to say, be it suggesting ideas, adding my own thoughts to the current conversation at hand or when trying to get some engagement going on, and receiving a like is not guaranteed.

Not that I expect/deserve to get one mind you, if someone doesn't agree with me or enjoy my post enough to give me one that is their choice and I respect it.

My account is only 5 days old and I currently have 14 likes which I assume is pretty decent for some no-name that's brand new to the server, so I'm getting closer to the requirements regardless, but this is just my 2cents you know? sorry if I come across as annoying or entitled or anything.

Also, I do have a suggestion for true lurkers, those that want the + content but don't post, are unable to donate and genuinely want the site to thrive, Maybe they could earn some sort of positive attention by reporting spam and broken links, behind the scenes kinda stuff? give an incentive outside of becoming visible? Idk just spit balling here.

I'm currently being hit with the "not enough balance" message while trying to purchase Prestige Rank 1.

added a true hours accumulated on the shop, don't trust the years/months/Hours of Service‎ because it doesn't use that system quite. (on that note, ive decreased the time to 8 hours.)

That's exactly my problem, towards the rank progress my time online is not counted. I see that he lowered it to 28 hours which still I find to be annoying. As is I'm totally for a time requirement and it took me pretty accurately 24 hours of in which I really minded the quality of my responses. But I now need 27 more hours because they don't count.

I know the grind is annoying, whether it involves online time, coins, likes, or other requirements, but except for those who can afford it and are willing to pay for access, it hasn’t been easy for any of us.
And believe me, many had it even harder, and it took them much longer to earn access than it does now:
I don’t even remember how many weeks it took me to reach Member+, and the rest took months.

I know this doesn't really help you either, but at least you don't have to feel like you're the only one having a hard time or who seems to have been scammed.
There are people out there who've lost time and real money, not just a few hours or worthless coins...

And one last question:

I see a bunch of this has changed since this morning, but as a newcomer who's done her laps in other forums(and got interrupted half way through her G+ browsing lol) I do wanna throw in thoughts I've shaped out since then

Active Time is a mess, 72 was absurd but a lotta folks aren't gonna spend hours browsing beyond their first time on the forum ime, unless they visit very rarely, maybe a mix of Active Time + Acct Lifetime would help? Cause 72hr acct lifetime is completely reasonable while still barricading against spamming for instant access, and the 6 or 8 hours of active browsing is... hard to draw an exact judgement on, timekeeping is weird, but at least genuinely reasonable with intent so it being dropped that far already is great(though it seems it only started tracking now? Cause I know I spent hours this morning quietly browsing games threads and yet I apparently only have 13 minutes as of this edit)
The thread requirement being dropped is imo very good, cause as others said it painfully encourages bad behavior, especially in folks like me who're mainly here for one thing and would be much happier just joining conversations instead of pretending we can be novel with topics more often than a blue moon

I dislike the idea of being beholden to likes, but I have no clue how vigorously inclined to its usage this forum's culture is, my experience elsewhere is that most people rarely use the like button because this isn't Youtube or Twitter, there's no need to feed the algo beast to push exposure of things you like
But since you've already had some degree of incentive structure in place, it might be better here than I anticipate

And well, I feel like 50 replies is a lot but I've always been a bit of a lurker who posts scarcely but generally with intent in forums, as opposed to replying to everything like its an IRC, so not a very strong sentiment perhaps

I appreciate this thread being a THREAD and not "Thread thats actually just locked as an announcement"

As I can see there is a big problem with active time that cannot be resolved, it records only movements, clicks, scrolls, etc... but the time spent reading or thinking about an answer are not stored, plus short movements are ignored if you are active for few seconds.

Seems to me that active time is not the right measure that should be used, it's an analytics measure but real users are not actively moving the mouse or performing actions to farm activity time.
It can be use to see how users interact with the website, for example how many hours they used to be active and how many hours they used to be in idle, but idle means also reading or playing a game with the forum open on the background.
