Your thoughts on mini games in games?

I think its rewarding for a game to put the NSFW stuff (not all of it of course) to behind a mini game wall.

I like when you have the option to skip and does not cut any content from the game, sometimes im not in the mood for that

Mini games, I feel, are something that developers add just to make a game have more content and seem fuller, than they actually are. I would rather see no mini games and a less "full" game, than mini games and a "full" game.

I have an extremely negative attitude towards mini-games. They are of no use for the development of the plot, a waste of time. In addition, they kill the gameplay of the main game.
If the developers give the player the opportunity to skip mini-games - honor and praise him.
If not (and there are no mods allowing to skip minigames), then the game is sent to the trash, and on those resources from which I downloaded it, it gets the ignore mark.

Sometimes the fishing minigame has more soul than the rest of the game

They're usually bad so I skip them, but most of the games in BaDIK are decent enough and acceptable. 99% of mini-games are trash tho.

They have to be beatable and rewarding. Most of them are glitchy as fuck and even keep you from progressing a story line. The yakuza series, for example, makes you play mini games to level-up properly, and I don't think I've ever won a round of shogi...

Really depends on the game. A big issue I have with them is that they often get harder to do the larger your screen is (because it takes longer to move your cursor around).

most of the time they are annoying and sometimes destroy the pace of the game so id rather avoid them

Even if I can skip them, I play the mini games at least once. But that's it.

Depends on frequency, length and what they're hiding.

In most VNs I'll play multiple paths to get all the girls, scenes and endings. If a mini is very long or involved, that is a stumbling block to overcome each time through - especially the further you get in a VN and the more paths/saves to go through.

If they're "point and click", it's better - one VN had a word scramble with a clock to get to a lewd interlude. None of the words were particularly difficult, but there was one that didn't seem to fit the category and just wasn't something that would be quickly identified, so I broke down and used the cheat. Even though I'm typically good at that kind of thing, when I'm doing a VN, that isn't where my brain is at and I don't want to have to put it there. I also believe something like that would be even more difficult for a non-English speaker, or a non-native speaker, because they wouldn't be nearly as familiar with the words and language as I am. In this particular instance, you could make the mini-games optional, but then you also lost the good content they were hiding - the Dev saying "play my game or don't get the benefit of my other work".

If they hide the better content, I don't really care for that. If it's an "achievement" or something, not so bad, but, again, I think it tends to be a non-essential element that is there to mess with the player.

I don't mind one here and there if they're brief and mostly for fun or for an "award"; if they're long and involved, potentially difficult for some players (like a word scramble) or are the only gateway to good content, then they are more of a troll to me than something I would enjoy.

I rather they not be in game. I always opted to skip them if possible.
I find them annoying especially if it is timed and there is no instruction on what you are supposed to be doing and time runs out. And mini games don't always work correctly for one reason or other.
depends on the type, and if its optional. if its something just for fun, that maybe speeds up $ earning in sandbox games, I'm fine with it as long as its something easy. if its required to continue the game, or something actively tedious or difficult, fuck that (especially tile puzzles).

To me its just wasted development time, if I wanted to play a turn based rpg, do puzzles or mazes I would not be playing these games. Very rare that I don't mind doing them but skip is the way to go, I also notice in most games that do have them that the skip either gets put in later by the dev or already have it.
