I'm not a Game Developer, but RenPy & Unity would be my picks if i where

Renpy Is The Only One I Seem To Use

I guess RenPy , but it really doesn't matter what engine is used as long as the game is good enough. But I won't play text based or those browser games..
When you say "browser games", you mean "low quality crap"? Or do you have a general objection towards using web as the platform to games? I would have thought it's the perfect platform for adult games, which are mostly just text and images. I really don't like running executable files from random adult content developers... (full disclaimer: I am also making web adult games)

I meant those web-platformers. don't really like them or maybe I haven't just found the one for me. I don't object those in general but based on my experience on playing some of them ... but you do have a good point there. Maybe I should try some of yours :)

Not too worried either way, but generally gravitate towards Ren'Py.

Some RPGM games can be OK, especially when the UI has been modded.

I'm in this camp. Default RenPy feels unfinished, but I can deal with that. Default RPGM just feels aggressively generic.
Unity both allows and requires that developers do more with the engine, otherwise it's just not worth the headache over RenPy.
HTML frameworks are fine, but seem to be a bit too easy to fuck up, making games into an unplayable mess a few updates in.
I do kind of miss the old school flash games, though. There's just not a great substitute for flash atm, I don't think.

RPGM is dogshit and developers should feel bad for using it.

Unreal cause endless mods and customization to its fullest.
Worst of Unreal is it just the engine is shit to work. Endless crashes.

In terms of VNs Renpy is best, next with RPGM if wants to explore, fighting mechanics.

Of course Ren'Py
It have the best controls (many functions are easy hackable). It have quick menu where you can auto play, fast skip, load or save
It also workk excelelent with the mouse scroll for wind or rewind.
Text boxes can be change
I havent seen such versatility in other engines unfortunately.

Renply.
Because i can unren it and see if the scene look good before playing it.
98% of the games are shit.
So i rather avoid wasting my time.

Ren'Py is a good safe one. I've only played like three games where they were completely broken which is almost impressive.

WolfRPG tends to have some of the better RPGs. Better mechanics than RPGM but fewer games. This could just be due to better developers using it.

Unity/UE/Godot tends to give people more control over their games so I'd argue that these are the best engines but it's all about picking the one that works best for your project.

How does one "unren" a game? I've noticed sometimes Renpy games have jpg assets or similar, but sometimes the assets are packaged in a way that isn't immediately clear to me how to access them.
