i would say : more branching in the sex scenes instead in the plot

Don't introduce later in the game a controversial kink not in before - like futa, ntr, etc. It will more than likely piss off more people than it pleases, and you'll lose supporters.
Yeah. Dev's should also warn audiences about future planned tags in the first release. Its more popular to do now cause of some disasters.

The thing that bothers me the most is unnecessary feature creep. Sometimes the game starts out with a focus on 1-3 characters but then bloat the game by adding more and more characters and putting all the focus on that. Especially annoying when updates are few and far between and with each they put more focus on other things instead of the one that the game advertised itself.
This happens a lot when games get popular. Most games would be boring with the same characters over and over without a real plan of how to end the game.

Same thing happens with TV shows that get renewed over and over. Most of the episodes start to be just filler and new characters, like adding kids as the original kids age out, are needed to keep those eyeballs glued.

Harem games from the start are probably the exception, and dragging out the game to keep those subscriber numbers up is just how things are going to go.

My advice would be more on project management:
1) Write a rough outline of what your game is going to about, what's the starting point and what the end game. Without a defined end point, it can be easy to feel like you are not making any progress.
2) What kind of gameplay mechanics do you want in your game (story branching, leveling, crafting, etc.)
3) What skills are you currently missing
4) Once you have that, try to figure out (roughly) how much time it would take to actually implement all that, learn the necessary skills, etc. This is perhaps the most important point, since it's going determine whether the project is feasible or not. Ideally, you want a number of hours, with a certain amount of uncertainty.
5) How much time can you actually invest into making the game every week.
6) Divide #4's result with #5's : how many weeks is that? How many years does it translate to?
7) Can you commit to that amount of time? If not, can you iterate on your outline cut some things?
7b) Is there any aspect of the game that you could outsource ? How much money are you willing to invest in said outsourcing?

Don't make promises that you know you cannot keep. Have realistic update schedule that makes sure that the Dev will not get burnt-out. Just off the top of my head these would be my advice

Be true to the story you want to tell, do the stuff that makes you happy and inspires you to keep developing, the characters need to be well done (no cutting corners here), engage with the playerbase and finally, complete the game.

1 be sure you have your story
2 make it more than just a story, like let some excitement happen beside the sex part
3 finish your games, not finishing them will have consequences on later games you are trying to make ( just look at how many lost subscribers, and never got over it /back to the original amount had bc they just abandend there game and whent on to a new/other game

In fact, don't do sandbox unless it's open world. Having to find the right place to go just to advance is a pain in the ass.

Is best to make a good but small game and use new ideas/girls for a new game than trying to make a game so big that you end up drop in it.

With the finished games you can create a fanbase that if you wish, you could use to found a team to make bigger games if thats what you are looking for

Stop reworking unfinished games, im looking at you Ocean.

Keep cooking Kings, but also don't become complacent. so many devs get a great following and then the content drip just halts.

I'd say be free to express yourselves and think about making a product that appeals to a large variety of people and fetishes and not just a certain set.

Chekhovs gun. Applies to gameplay too; if a mechanic is in the game it should lead to something.

1. Don't blueball. Don't go more than 3 releases without actual sex (this does NOT include handjob - please, don't even include handjob, most of us rapidly click to get past it - blowjob, titjob, footjob [ieewww!], etc.)
2. Don't include NTR, futa/trap, monstergirl or anything extremely off (like scat)
3. Modern, realistic setting - no fantasy or sci fi
4. Realistic looking - NO CARTOONS! Yes, Manga, Anime or whatever the fuck else that shit is called is included as cartoons.
just go watch actual porn if that's your strike zone
