What Mechanics do you like in your adult games? Thinking of a small sandbox UE/Unity game

3rd person or first person. Should there be combat or stealth. Its there a quest system. What kind of setting would be cool. Stiff like that.

i said this once already but if you are actually as experienced as you claim. then basically anything you make will probably be appreciated, so the question is what would you like to make?
but for your questions 3rd person is better so we can see the person we play as, this is good for facilitating lewd scenes, and its nice to see player if they are a girl.
quest systems are generally good to give guidance to the player.
setting being average world with a supernatural twist the main character must contend with is a common good one.
and when it comes to mechanics : combat, stealth, rpg, rouge like, deck builder, point and click adventure, ect it is less about which one is correct and more about just picking one or 2 and doing them well and integrating lewdness in to the central game play loop.

an important thing to know is that you don't have to do it perfect on your first try, many of my favored devs had pretty sucky first games, or had a long running game that started rough
 
if it is open world then gradual corruption is the best. especially if it is a game that have routines for the girls and you see them get more lewd overtime and you have things like eat dinner, go to work, study, and those events get progressively crazier.
i also love it when their is a progressive story associated with the corruption so as they get more corrupt events start happening, and some cause problems you have to solve before corrupting can continue like a new person showing up and everyone has to hide the lewd craziness.

I loved that part in Agent17 where you would get more and more things which go depending on current lewdness. At first a massage would seem like a big thing yet the more the relationship progressed the more risque things seemed okeish, almost normal in comparison with what you would introduce them to.

I personally like character customization, open world, 3rd person view, fuckable NPCs, no forcible quests, different endings, breasts/butt physics, detailed facial expression, pregnancy mechanics, periods, x-ray uterus view etc

That being said I was kinda thinking about Wicked Island as a dude where you can capture creatures to fuck or do a peeping tom that can sneak around town and spy on people/breakin and do lewd things to them in their sleep/see what they are doing during the day. Thoughts?

Hands down if you're going for pure numbers, a Hummingbird style game with older kids in perhaps a daycare (vs nursery) setting. Hummingbird is not allowed on LC due to age of character(s) so you'll have to look it up at a.t.f. site. It's pretty much the most downloaded game. You could easily double those numbers with similar game with the same theme but age up characters. It would break records IMO.
Took a look at humming bird. Makes sense it is not on here, but I see where you are going with that. Could be fun and have a small scope for the game.
 
To make it short: Freedom.
Means choices with impact, my order instead of forced linear progress and since we talk about adult games, avoidable content...i dont care about stuff i dont NEED to see, but forced stuff can ruin even the best game.
 
I avoid sandbox like the plague. I hate mini games and forced bullshit upon the player. I'm sure there are good Sandbox games, but if there are i haven't played them.
 
Mini games hardly ever add anything good. Good audio is also a big plus
 
I like to have companions, which also can attack and can be attacked and fucked by enemies.
 
I just love corruption when you can see the affect of what your doing, however it's hard not to turn any sandbox game in too a grind
 
I personally like touch/feel mechanics where you can choose how (if) to warm her up to you and start trusting you.
yes, especially if there's multiple endings
 
So do I. Those make the scene so much better. Just watching kinda makes it a little boring for me
Camera control isn't a bad thing, but my hands might be a bit busy. Choosing an agle and having the camera have motion of its own is a better way to me
 
Not open world. Should be playable with one hand ;) or at least the sex scenes.

Hi professional dev here. I'm part-time wannabe game designer. Not gonna write you a GDD, but here's some ideas, hope they help and good luck with your project:

First of all, you need to think of the player's absolute needs here. Which is: no matter the gender, single hand control scheme is a must! Well, some folks just use their feet for the game and get double hand action, but I'm not gonna talk about those gymnasts.

So, mechanics: Given the requirements of Small open world... a sandbox as well, let's see the competition: Whorecraft, The Twist, The Last Barbarian, Unreal Lust Theory, Monolith Bay, Personal Study, Carnal Instinct, Breeding Nephelym, World After War.
So, first decision: If you're going to go with a 1 hand control scheme, then you can have some third person, over the shoulder character moving with automatic camera control Q and E to move head to left and right, WASD usual movement, Space to jump, F to interact. Simple. (optional mouse moving for the two handers/feeters). Walking is there just to prolong the life of the gameplay and tease the player. You'll get hate and love for that.
The other option, favorable, more favorable, is the one that sticks to the Interactive VN style that most of us got used to from Ren'py engine games. As such, The Twist and World After War are the best examples for this.
Mechanics: move from one area of the map to another by clicking/interacting with buttons available form a menu or on the screen (just make a world open area map with many still locations to avoid loading between levels, which is infuriating). Arrows to guide to the next area, world map, minimap, you name it. (if you go for UE5, this will lower the requirements for the people who don't use monster rigs)
Interactable objects - the more the better, but they must have a purpose with regard to gameplay or events.
Inventory system for stuff you pick up. Lockpicks for doors, toys, gifts, etc.
VISIBLE NPC schedule - they each follow a schedule, they each have stage and change differently according to the plot, you can see where they are on the map. It's frustrating when you make the player click all the damn rooms only to be told the NPC appears like 7 hours later.
Dynamic interactions - depending on the clothes and items the player has, the NPC will react to them. Add a line or two... or use it as an opportunity for a scene.
Option to NOT do minigames - frustrating, annoying, most of the time not done right. High risk of being game breaking. High risk of being too difficult for a player that just wants to fap. If you do want minigames, make them dumb and dumber level of easy, intuitive, and also rewarding with a scene or something. Work minigames... just no. Fixing stuff minigames (like aligning pipes or connecting wires, that could work). Cleaning minigames (debatable)

That's about it. Can't give more without knowing more details. Sandbox small open world is not a lot to go by.

lots of "creature capture" games end up pretty meh ime. You'd be relying more on the porn aspect and having lots of creatures over actual gameplay.

A peeping tom/stealth game sounds cool. lots of opportunity for blackmail/favor style quests, and having main characters that aren't MC.

Hello, this my opinion is not a complaint, just what I think. There are sandboxes that are complex to play on an Android, there are times that you have to do several ways to achieve a scene that is, it takes more than 30 minutes to achieve, it would be good if the sandbox was something easy or else a guide that I have to do, on the map mark the name to know where to go.
I like renpy or VN with options better. The future is still appreciated for your work.
