discussion What is your opinion on games with AI generated art?

Can range from terrible to great:
Terrible - cartoon or missing/extra fingers, teeth. Or when it becomes horrific - google "Loab"
Great - indistinguishable from real.

I don't like AI art, so I'm not a fan of using it in games. Unless its for background art or used sparingly.

One big problem is that it is difficult to reproduce a character in different poses/outfits/facial expressions/etc. Even if the art is done well the image is not going to match the action

This is a good point. I don't think we are at a point where all the renders can be ai generated and be good. AI in drawing, now that is such a great assistant tool.

Some devs do spend the time to make the models unique. But even more so, i appreciate hand drawn stuff more. In the case of Superhuman, my favorite game, it received a lot of flak at the start because of the art, but in my opinion, it was endearing and unique and it stands out from the plethora of Daz gen x models. The same with My Pig princess, where the dev has some serious skill making fuckeable characters.

I think all art/games, 2d, 3d, ai, or other, have a place and to me it is about the experience. if the game or artwork is nice then I am fine with ai or whatever. In this day and age digital ai stuff is growing fast and I don't know why anyone will have problems with it just as long its not depicting any rl people without their consent or stolen from other people work. I create 3D art and I notice many 3D artists are starting to like AI, myself included. Like I say, depend on the subject matter.

We need AI generated games, rather than only pics frfr

Im not a fan of AI generated content. its got the same feel as that 3D anime. While it may look good in some very specific cases, like other users have said it feels soul less. When artists are crafting something of someone is modeling a 3D character alot of care and attention to detail can be added in which enhances the characters. This is missing when you type prompts into a PC and wait for it to spit something out. I personally think i will always appreciate art made by people.

You know, Taffy Tales is a good game and interesting as far as AI Art. It started all hand-drawn and has now expanded to the use of some AI generated art in co-ordination with their existing art work. Give it a shot and see how the artwork evolves throughout the game.

Some short cuts will improve the product as far as productivity is concerned. I wish the artist has more do with design and details than the AI

Haven't really liked it much so far. The LIs in one VN were just a little creepy. Have another on the list that uses the faces and body styles of known celebrities, and while it looks interesting, it also has a bit of a creep factor to it. I'm sure many VNs will be moving that direction, so I'll probably have to try to get over it if I want to continue in this genre of entertainment.

When AI art becomes too good and too easy to make, we will get flooded with mediocre games that all feel the same. This is probably already happening, but right now you can see it right away and just ignore them.

That's the same issue a lot of games with ripped porn clips have, but people are more lenient with those. Personally I have no issue with AI art in games based on principles, but a lot of the games using it seem to be really ill-conceived and amount to little more than spam.

My level of tolerance is it being used for portraits in text games.
Backgrounds are also okay.

As of right now, im getting annoyed with AI being used for Porn.
Only reason being because so far, the only intent i see people making use of AI for porn, is to get closer and closer to real thing so they "wont get in trouble"
Once the laws find that borderline of what is acceptable, everyone will still try to tiptoe past the line.


Most of the AI ive seen has been nothing but people trying to make porn of "smols" to satisfy that they cant have the real thing and spread the illegal crap out there. This part pisses me off to no end.
