What game did you really like at first but were disappointed with the updates?

Burned. It started off pretty good, but it got weird with the time traveling,
the last version of the game I played I think a dinosaur time traveled
from the past into the school gymnasium, then I never played it anymore after that.

Sassy girl. I think the developer smacked his head hard in the middle of the game.

Sadly, I think there are more games that lay into that category than the amount of games that don't.

I am sure anyone who followed Hard to Love will agree.
Had a very popular start with some of the best renders in the business only to then start with rewrites, reworks, and eventually a total remake with the use of AI filters.
And the game barely had a few updates to it.
The dev was very green but she is stopping the use of AI filters going forward due to backlash.

The Guardian - and many of their other games.
I get they are going for a grim story and aesthetic, but gritty becomes cringey quickly... and frankly I didn't pick their games up on the promise of dark themes, but because I liked the lolis on the preview images.

Lust Theory for me. Had good buildup for the first few updates, but then got stale and boring after that

Stranded Dick - Was a decent start, but then we got NTR from NOWHERE and now is stuck in flashback hell from what I've read.

Taking Advantage - The start was nice, but every update just jumps to new scenes. The only thing that links the updates is the MC, no real story, no character development.

Monster girl island.

Game was success on day 1 with good modeling and good scenes using unity, but then after 2 updates dev got greedy and lazy relasing only standalone scenes with not even 5 minutes worth it and he keep doing that for YEARS while ppl still supporting him for some reason.
I don't even remember the last time someone talk about him or his game

WVM. The plot got more and more disjointed and telenovella levels of dramatic. On top of each update adding 15 new girls and still ignoring the established ones people actually like.

I mean Innocent Witches has to be the top for this question. Phenomenal art, obviously appealing setting, nice music, an actual game. Then it just became the biggest milker in the adult game industry, the devs just troll now with one update every year that's like "remember the ugly goblin maid creature? this update entirely focuses on enhancing her existing scene by upgrading the resolution of the pores on her nose."

Does Radiant count? Its mostly the lack of updates but disapointing anyways

This is a really great list. The one I would add to it is The Sunset Fairies, for the crime of not properly setting expectations on how the MC would treat the girls until wayyyyy too late. If I had known that he was going to be causing internal injuries to the girls, I would have just skipped it from the beginning.
IMHO Sunset Fairies is a bad game to begin with. So is the devs other game.
The MC of SF treats his girls very badly, the writing is terrible and the story is a slog.
Ethan, the dev, is also very resistant to criticism and/or just ignores it.
Bad games and bad dev.

The thing was at the start he treated the girls fine. Not as good as I treat my characters, but decently enough.

I haven't played your game so I can't comment on that.

What I will say is that I really hate games where LIs are treated badly by the MC.
I'm a fan of romance and love in the games I play. I like games where the MC deeply cares and loves his girls and so do they.

The MC of SF is a deeply manipulative cunt, that acts like he cares but he really doesn't and it's obvious to see.
The MC of his other games is way way worse though. That game is outright disgusting and I'm not even talking about the prolapse or other disgusting shit it has.

How to Save the Future started out interesting and had optional futa that became mandatory.
