Having to lose on purpose can be immersion breaking. If a game like Malignant works it in so it fits the story and mood, that's fine, as long as you don't have to replay too much to get to the next one.
And the other important thing is making it clear that there are scenes of interest for bad endings.
Usually I only want to play to the "best" ending but if I know ahead of time I can adjust.
It reminds me of Disco Elysium (a non-porn mystery adventure game on Steam) where you play a washed up detective who just woke up from nearly drinking himself to death, and part of the point of the game is to "embrace failure."
