both are great in their own way but I'm going for realistic

I like realistic but I gotta go for cartoonist, the only problem is that there are not many good ones or many get abandoned

I do prefer the realistic style but I am getting a bit bored with all the models looking the same in every game so I would love for some more high quality cartoon stuff. It's just pretty rare to find that.

I can enjoy both, but I guess I prefer Japanese art style more, which I think is not the same as cartoonish.

Depends on the game honestly. You can make 3D animations look good, but there is a slim margin for error. If you miss, then the movement feels robotic and/or static. With 2D this is usually not the case, as most of the stuff has to be drawn first to be animated.

It really depends on the skill of the artist, and the end quality of the product. Someone VERY skilled in 3d can make an amazing end product, but they have to be very skilled, and have very high quality models, to make it top notch. Using stylized models can, IMO actually alleviate some of the "uncanny valley" effect. But the same can be said for 2d, if they are just a hack hobbyist, the end result might not be any better then a hack hobbyist 3d artist.

As with regular video games it's always artstyle over graphics. So if you do something unique or interesting I don't care if it's 3D or 2D.

Same here. I do enjoy 3D but looking at the same models just get boring. Not to mention in the wrong hands they seem to have an uncanny valley feel to it.

3d style for me

I've seen games I like using all of these and games I hated using all of these. To me its more about originality and gameplay.

What do you prefer more?

For me I do prefer "Daz 3D" type of games. With properly proportioned people. It's just more natural to see "normal looking" people. I'm not against cartoon type games (especially if they are a spoof of a real tv show or something).
this 100%

cartoon, the 3d models usually have bad animation or really bad face riggin, good 3d manipulation is rare
