I never got the appeal of them. Why would I go through all that just for low quality videos that don't fit with the game's story (if there even is one) or, even worse, just some jpegs? Plus they always manage to have the worst writing known-to-man!

everyone covered the "we're not here for that" angle so I'll add that if you make money off a game using porn and you don't share that money with the human beings what which made that porn, that's kinda exploitative and shitty. Same reasons why I stay away from "ai" art.

Funnily enough I've been getting into a kick of R.P. HTML games lately and my thoughts are basically:
The games suck. The real porn aspects are often lazy and and when used without thought lead to the most uninspired scenes and story lines. They're fascinating games in their own way, especially when you break down and look at what they're trying to to do, what they're limited to, and how the nature of media type interacts and influences the mechanics or writing. But it's interesting in like, the same way crappy B movies are interesting.
Hated them at first, but over time they kinda grew on me. There's this fascinating kinda... Goofy trashiness go them. They have a similar vibe to those janky ass weird old FMV games to me, but made using this eclectic mosaic of random porn clips to tell this often cheesey basic ass story (often of corruption or building a harem). I've seen worse stories in some 3D render games to be honest, but at least the nature of the real porn HTML models allows more freedom and agency than most of those crappy "visual novels."
Honestly, I don't really mind the real porn to be honest. Hate the inconsistency, but it's better than AI. Like, legitimately the real porn games are almost always better than one full of AI art because at least the creator is putting some effort into currating clips and making someone. The effort at leaves the real porn games with this certain sense of earnestness and charm that I do feel has kinda started to wane from unskilled first time creators now they can just prompt a generator and slap it into a scene.
I just hope that one day there'll come along a game where it'll lean into goofy aspects and also hire and pay actresses and actors. Because let's face it, the act of profiting off the work you're stealing to make the scenes for your games is abhorrent. It cannot be understated just how not okay it is, and is a major reason I'll never support nor recommend those kinds of game. Even if I do kinda find them fascinating

If the game mechanics are done well and there is consistency in the images and videos used for every character then real porn games can be good IMO.

A lot of hassle for something I can get with a 5 second search. Not to mention it completely eliminates the possibility of the fantasy that a game/VN provides. Not something I could ever appreciate, like pineapple on pizza. I am ready for the hate to flow from the pineapple on pizza lovers, we all know THEY are the real deviants on this site

Most of these games are boring and a pointless series of video snippets in poor quality. There are some where at least the story is quite good. In my opinion, these games get far too many stars in the reviews; they don't even begin to deserve that. If such games were sold, I would say the number of customers would be zero.
