Thoughts on some Grinding/effort in games?

I'm typically okay with it if it's something simple/easy or rewarding in some way, but not when you get things like doing the same task 30 times to earn enough money to buy an item that may or may not be the thing you need to progress (and if you bought the wrong one, no refunds so get ready to grind some more).
Anything that feels too much like a chore, you can forget about it.

I feel like I don't appreciate games as much without investing a little effort.

Figuring out how to balance time management in games where you have "needs" to take care of or figuring out the right sequences so your "bars/status" is just right can be fun, but when you have to just repeat the same action over and over and over to grind one currency be it $$ or some "horny point" it is hard to do this the right way to not make it fell like a chore
this exactly; some grind can be fun as long as the "grind" is actual engaging gameplay, if you just have to repeat stuff or it's all boring, bland and meaningless then the grind shouldn't be there.

It's always a delicate balance with h-games. If I wanted to cum quickly I'd just look at regular porn. The whole reason to play an h-game is because it does include gameplay. But at the same time I am just playing the game to jack off so I'm not up for some epic six hour long quest just to achieve that goal.

If there's some grind with plenty of H-scenes/rewards in between I have no issue. It's when you grind for like 2 hours and then you reach the end for an admittedly sexy picture...Yeah I'm going to keep doing this shit.

if you have to gather resources to make a tool and use that tool to gather more resources and this loop repeats ten times then its pretty boring. the last crafting/sandbox game i played for more than an hour was palworld, it gave me a reason to do the crafting loop with the monster collecting... and i have constant desire for a new pokemon game.

Don't mind some grinding, but i don't want a game to fall into the click something skip day, click the same thing again skip day territory.

I dont like grinding in porn games, those devs are making it way too tedious

If I am playing porn games I want to relax and not take the effort of using my brain on riddles or testing my reaction to progress.

It's very difficult to balance that kind of thing, there's a fine line between requiring effort and being annoying, but it's certainly satisfying to get a reward for your work.

That's why all the games (most often MMORPGs) that force you to play days, weeks, and months to get pieces of equipment with random stats are disgusting. It's a very dirty and lazy way to artificially extend game time (as well as aggressively incentivize you to spend money).

Getting something valuable or good easily takes away a lot of value from it, but it's also not okay to kill yourself playing and get shit on with a "Better luck next time" label like most Asian MMORPGs do.

There are very rare exceptions when I can accept porn games with grind. Whores of Thrones was such a game, which has lots of grind but I felt rewarded at the end. And the story was interesting enough, too.

yes this is so annoying because it's not even gameplay it's just guess the right route until you get new scenes

I'm looking for history and almost quickly the sexual scene but I'm not going to be doing hours and a set time to earn only 1 point and that's why I almost don't play the sandboxes in case there is a cheat mod maybe I'll play it

i dont mind grinding it out if the goals are achievable and if the game keeps me engaged.

Too many games being altogether waaaay to grindy is why I more often that not choose to skip anything that's sandbox play. Too many of them are just doing chores for tiny little scenes, and then back to either trying to figure out what the hell to do next, or grinding for days and days.

And don't get me started on games that just make you skip time for 90% of the day in order to get to the right time and place to trigger the opportunity to just grind more.

I enjoy grinding! I am addicted to raising and maintaining stats as long as I get rewarded for it. But if it's just for the sake of ticking a completion box, then nah.

I like it when a game has a well balanced money system, using money to pay off debts or buy items that unlock scenes later on, I don't mind a little effort to get my reward as long as I don't have to put in a massive grind, I'm playing games to jerk off to here, not Minecraft lol

I am in the camp of "grind is always bad"

I am not saying that "there should be no effort" but when I call something "grind", it is always negative.

Grind to me is exclusively when the effort I put in starts to be disproportionate to the reward and/or when the effort itself is loosing, or never had any fiun in itself.

Take Scarlet Maiden for example.
You have to put in some effort to get to the H-Scenes, but the gameplay itself is competent and pretty fun, so I don't think of it as grind.

It kind of has to be fun, Custom Order Maid 3d2 Caaan be grindy but not necesarilly and it's kind of fun, or more like, it just happens. And Monster Black Market might get grindy, but it's good gameplay.
