Thoughts on repeatable/grind system in games?

If the game is good enough, grinding is worth it. When updates arrive on games I like, I simply play them again to get to the update. Games like that are rare however.

Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Problem is that most dev are excessive with it. Hate it.

I like it because it feels rewarding to unlock something new after a while of you have worked for it. But too much is too much as always.

I hate it so much. I once had to do something a million times in Photo Hunt and I got so tired of it I quit playing the game for a while.

Repeatable scenes can be nice if they aren't the only thing.
I don't mind "progressive" scenes, as long as the progression is good.
Grinding is terrible; I don't want to spend 100 in-game days just to hold hands

It needs to be a little hard to get but not grinding for hours for a scene

As long as it doesn't want me to watch the same scene again and again its a good thing. I like progression as long as it feels like it has a purpose other than wasting time.

well if it was done well, with indicators/notes on what you should do it's ok, but if it's repeat the same random actions choosing specific paths until you suddenly get slightly different scenes it's I can't stand it.

An example would be game Golden Mean where you have to repeat scenes to unlock more slow grind but imo is great considering first scene is very vanilla and later scenes would be more corrupt and saucy!

It really mostly matters about how long yhe repeatable scene is and if we can skip it easily

It's okay if it less than 5 repetitive doing same thing again, for renpy you can just skip forward.
Hate it if it more than 5 times

I dont like any grind in games like that. Different paths locked behind points system that are given based on your previous choices? Sure, i like that. But all those repeatable events and money grind is just offputting. I dropped every game where you have to grind a lot of different stuff to move the plot. Its tedious.
Don't like it too

It depends on the context

If a girl has to suck 10 cocks to earn enough money to move on it's fun

If you have to do some menial thing over and over again it sucks

if the grind are more than the prize, that can be very dissapointing and a big let down

In Handyman Legend you "grind" by harassing your clients while doing a mini-game. It's really the only example I can think of that made the game better.
