I like simple controls, like point and click. Which is why a good renpy game is usually a hit with me.

Piss and scat are usually a turnoff for me.

RPGM games usually. They just get kind of samey after a while. Renpy games too to a certain degree, those tend to be more immediately story focused where RPGM games tend to be, well, JRPG's. So many of them play more or less the same. I sitll play some now and then, though.

Sandbox games, NTR, scat and guro are some things that i always avoid.

My exclude Tag list: sandbox, RPG, point&click, koikatsu, html.
I only play ren'py games. There was one unity game where you can walk through your house in pov and have fun with your mum and sisters, don't know the name. That was great but I prefer renpy

I avoid VNs where you just click through it and make choices.

vam-games have very good animations, pixel art-games have some artistic pleasure for me

If I were making my own game it would probably use Honey Select 2 and Ren'py. I don't hate other visual engines but I consistently like HS2 the most, and I just almost never see an advantage to using other game engines, sometimes other engines manage to have most of the features Ren'py comes with but I would be making either a linear or sandbox VN so it's just fighting to get back to the baseline.

Same, RPGM usually because of the main reason for me hating games

Games where the dev loves the sell of their own farts too much and there is unnecessary, repetitive dialogue and scenes that drag on two words t a time for something a brain-dead ant would understand within 10 seconds, but 5 minutes later they finally get on with it. This includes actual games as well with bloated forced tutorials for example - its only a game if you an play it, and devs shoving unskippable ingame crap that locks you out just ruins it for me.

Starting from scratch I think it is a good idea to start in HTML/TWINE first to understand how to structure & link something together (just a simple little game) before moving onto Renpy. Too many people start making scenes etc with no idea how they fit together, get bored/overwhelmed and abandon the game.

agreed - especially the Japanese RPGM games that are super grindy and require you to play the game seriously and give you scenes only so often. like come on, i only have two hands...

Yeah, seems like a standard feature of RPGM games for slow custcenes and slower text speeds that go nowhere one letter at a time & the amount of clicking breaks your wrist (I believe many players are reduced to plying with only 1 hand)

Abadoned game, Ocd will drive me insane
I kind of prefer a game get abandoned or put on indefinite hold rather than the author suddenly cutting the story short with a crappy ending. But I also usually won't pick up a game that's already abandoned.

Unless the game has incredible art if it's an RPG Maker game I pretty much immediately skip over it. so many of them are just low effort, cookie cutter clones of each other

Aside from that usually games with AI art

I avoid Cuckold tagged games.
we are one in the same. though i do love heavy corruption games but it sucks if sharing is a mandatory. Oh and GILFs should be banned in all countries. if its wrinkled with saggy tits i will not stick my dick in it.

I usually filter out AI-CG. It just feels wrong. Not realistic enough to feel real (I also understand how that is not allowed here and in many platforms), but also not "artistic" enough to draw me in. Handrawn is a bit hit or miss in my opinion, not the best, not the worst, depends on the game (some are just plain horrible). I usually go with Ren'Py games, because I just can't stand the movement mechanics on most RPGM games (not to mention incompatibility with Linux), but mainly because I delete the game after the playthrough and make use of the persistent save storage for the next time the game has an update and I redownload. Used to hate HTML games, played a couple these past two days that had me hooked, but have now downloaded and tried over 20 other HTML games that just don't sit right with me.

So far I've avoided RPGM games. Just gameplay-wise, I'm usually not in the mood to be that active. I also tend to dislike very cartoony artstyles. I can appreciate them, but there's a realism line for me with attraction.
