That's a recent feature (added in one of the 0.9's), probably disabled by default. Generally I wait until all paths are done before replaying (ie 2x a year), otherwise I'll be replaying every week.
In the ALPHA and BETA versions, there's a message at the start that makes it clear that everything can change between versions A and B and R, from visuals to anims to code... etc. Sometimes, even fully rendered scenes don't work in the new version.
