for me,
Original Star Wars < STTNG< STTOS < STV < STDSN < SW Prequals < ST new movies < SW sequels

IDK it's like comparing The Dark Knight to Shawshank Redemption. They're both great but trying to be very different things.

Overall I'm a bigger Trek fan though, I really like how Star Trek, at least the older ones like TNG and DS9, stimulate me intellectually and morally.

The Orville > Star Trek + Stargate > dozens of other good space opera franchises/series including Buck Rogers, Blake's Seven and Babylon 5 > dozens of low quality space opera franchises/series including Battlestar Galactica and various Star Wars parodies/clones > Dune > Star Wars. (Not completely sure about the order of the last two.)

I grew up with Star Trek already around (TOS only). The first Star Wars movie came out when I was too young to be allowed to watch it in the cinema. (My parents tried to watch it with me, as they didn't even think of the possibility it could be age-restricted!) When I later watched it on TV, I never understood it. I came to it as somehow related to Star Trek and the like, but when you try to understand it that way it's just childish, pointless nonsense. I guess it would be fine if I understood its humor, but for me that's a typical example of something trying hard to be funny, and mostly failing.

I think I tried to watch the second and third movie too, at some point. But I remember even less from them than from the first one, which says a lot because that's one of the least memorable movies I have ever seen. (Except for a few iconic scenes.) Needless to say, I never watched any of the Disney movies.

im a sci-Fi fan
I love Star Trek TNG since i was a child.
Star Wars is fun to.
I saw many series and movies in this genre.
I like them all :):)

I definitely prefer Star Wars, never really managed to get into Star Trek despite several friends attempting to get me interested in it.

Bit of a moot point these days anyway, because as many people have already said, both of them are now utter shit.

TBH, never watched Star Trek.
Not a Star Wars fan either, though.
However, I do enjoy seeing the amount of work that Star Wars fans put into developing the expanded universe.

Not a fan of Star Trek.
I like the original trilogy of Star Wars, the rest is pure garbage.

I would suggest Stargate SG-1.....

Star Wars has been so destroyed, all we wanted was one meeting of Han+Luke and Lea. What did they give us, I don't even want to think about it. I think she hated males, that's why, I don't know, she destroyed a whole generation.

And I'm not gonna talk about Star Trek Discovery, it was really weird sometimes...

And that's also why am totally afraid of those guys creating a new Stargate series, that totally will ruin it...

I'm a big fan of both, and I totally agree with you. The last three Star Wars movies destroyed the Legends for me, though it did make up for it with The Mandalorian. Star Trek: Discovery was a mistake. I do like Strange New Worlds, though.

i like the worldbuilding star wars has nowadays, minus the last trilogy. original star wars trilogy is great. people hate on the prequels but i enjoyed them. i like original star trek, granted ive never seen anything past original star trek.

........
Why we comparing science fiction (star trek) with science Fantasy? (star wars)
besides both having "space" elements they have nothing in common..

but star trek for me, but star trek isn't my fave scifi much better out their IMHO

They've both been destroyed. Neither is a shadow of what they once were. Kurtzman Star Trek is an abomination and Disney Star Wars is garbage. Where is the mythic modern audience they keep expecting to show up. The cartoon showrunner Dave Filoni taking over Lucasfilm as chairman is pure comedy. They've had nearly a decade of constant failure they haven't had a film since 2017 that gave them a good return on investment at Lucasfilm. Maybe Mando and Grogu will break the trend, but I have no intention wasting my time or money. I gave Star Trek Starfleet Academy a fair viewing and it's worse than Star Trek Discovery. I don't envy the state Paramount is in with Star Trek, its dead Jim.

They are wildly different and each have unique charms but SW has the deep lore that catches my interest the most

I was a teen when star wars came out, watched all of them in theaters.
Star Wars, And Empire Strikes Back are my 2 favorite star wars movies
Original Star Trek and Star Trek the Next Generation were great tv show

but most of the stuff for both have gone down hill for me

so my favorite is Babylon 5 haha :)
