Restart from scratch or from a save?

I go from the update if the game is too big, and every couple of updates I play the whole game, if the game is small I always play everything again

I have never started from a save, I always start from scratch, because sometimes they add new things or improve some renders or I make different decisions.

One of the reasons that I play Elden Ring so much it's because is so much more fun starting from scratch and trying a new build.

I have a short memory so I start again every time. even if afterwards I end up remembering I have to start all over again since I overwrote the previous save

If it's possible i usually play from the last save. Unless it has been a really long time since the last update.

Always from scratch. I tend to wait several updates before playing a game again, and my memory's been shot for years so I need the refresher.

I usually load a save, but there's a few games I'm a big fan of that I don't mind replaying from the start. If it's a sandbox though, I never restart

Depends on the game. I don't mind restarting unless it's grindy. Then it's time for a save restart or I'll cheat/edit files

Old save, otherwise

I start form the scratch if i haven't play it for a long time or if i like the experience

From save unless the game has some really good storytelling (games made by Oceanlab or Naughty Fox Games for example). Also a lot of RenPy devs fuck up the save files and you are forced to start from scratch either way.

Not if it is a sandbox but if it is a VN I will almost always just to get a refresher if it has been a while

I think it depends on the game, the size of the game and how long it has taken for the update has come out.

I usually start from scratch, but some games end up with way too many saves.

Depends on many factors:
  • How confusing/memorable is the plot?
  • Can I still associate all major names and faces/roles with each other?
  • How heavily does the plot branch? (I probably have saves only for one thread. Might as well restart with different choices.)
  • When did I last play?
  • How much more material is there?
  • How much do I like the game / VN?

I always keep multiple saves with different routes especially if the game is made in rpgmaker but sometimes i have to roll back a litle if the story gets too confused.
