I don't have a great memory don't think I have every played an update from a save file. I start from scratch every time to remind myself what happened, and possibly try making slightly different choices. If it is a game I have played many times, or if I played it really recently, I will sometimes skip through some of the dialog or go through it really fast as a recap. Even if I remember everything an where I was at, I just like the continuity of getting the whole thing starting from the beginning. That can be troublesome though with longer games or ones with multiple seasons. Feel like I can't play the update to sunshine love chapter 3 until I go back and re-play chapters 1 an 2

I use to play from the save. Only long time played games I start from scratch. I dropped games for breaking previous saves. Re-start over a sandbox can be a pain in the ass.

I usually load a save unless I haven't played the game in a while.

It depends on the game. I like factory building games and if I replay one, I mostly start from scratch with the goal to build a maximum effective factory this time. But I'm ending always in effective chaos :) Grindy games are better from a save.

Autoclicker.exe is the only reason I play so many dog water games, and is a lifesaver when something like "oh cool Witch Trainer Silver updated... oh, cool, old saves are non-compatible 🙃" happens.

Unless i don't remember anything i always try to start from my saves

If it has been a while, I prefer to start from scratch. I might backtrack a few choices with a save, but other than that...

Really depends how long it's been since the last update. But more often than not, from a save. I just don't have the patience to go over a huge part of the game again

If the game was good, then I remember what happened and can continue from the save, if not so good, start again.

Hate it when previous saves get broken, the game must be outstanding for me to start again then. Sandbox I avoid alltogether..

"You have to start a new save" is the biggest reason for me to drop games.
I also void Sandbox games for that reason. Having to start over every time is such a pain

Starting from new is sometimes good if it has been a long time, but sometimes it can just lead to holding the skip button for a long time which can get annoying.

On Ren'Py you can just press TAB, it'll skip automaticaly

It depends on the time between the save and picking it up again, how long the game is overall, and if I just want to replay from the start.

I almost always start over, just because I can't be assed to transfer a save, if I even still have it.

Any time there is an expansion I start the game from the beginning. If I don't it seems like I am missing something.

I will always just try to play from save. 90% of the time I can remember the story and characters. But I also track all the AVNs and what patch I have played and write myself a little note on the game for future reference.

If its a really good game you could come back to it from time to time, and challenge yourself to see how far you can get in a single playthrough. If its like, an update or something to a game that I've played recently, and nothing in the previous parts was changed, i'd prolly just load a save. If its an update that changes things from the game previously, then always a new save.

Usually I go from a save, or if I need to relearn controls I'll start a new game on a separate save and then switch back.
