Usually I go from a save, or if I need to relearn controls I'll start a new game on a separate save and then switch back.

I start from save if it's compatible. From scratch only games lie on version 03.-0.5.
But if game is good I then replay it after sometime when all updates are complete (if ever).

Oh I remember how it was to come back to Dreams of Desire after some time playing when it was completed.
Sadly some of games don't get old in a good way.

Seems like games concepts/quality are improving over the time.

I tend to continue from a save. Though sometimes I restart depending on how much I remember and how much content I would need to go through again.

It depends on how long it's been since I last played. If it's been less than a month, I continue from my save. If it's been longer, I usually start from scratch.

I normally like to play a game from start to end without much time between each session. When I finish all content the game has to offer I will just wait until it gets some updates and then start from the beginning

If I have not play a game after many months or even years I start from scratch, since some of those games saves don't work anymore, or when I try a route in a game and I have no idea where it starts.

if its a good story with no grind i just restart. if its terrible with no grind ill restart but skip. Can't really appreciate an update (especially if its short) if i spend more than half of it remembering what the story is, so i usually never use saves. If it is grindy or really long i probably would use a save.

Although, if during game development the safes turn out to be incompatible with the new version of the game, you have to play from scratch.
But in any case, if the project turns out to be finished, I go through it one last time from start to finish.

I only start over if the save is broken, I remember liking the game (I usually finish games even if I don't really like them, as long as I don't hate it. Hahaha) and don't recall much of the story. If not, I usually drop or at least wait for a looong time to play it again.

My memory is alright so i just start from a save
