Sure, justice is not always fair or blind, corrupt police/judges/lawyers exist, evidence can be planted/faked, etc, but I'll say this:
If my choice was 14 years by not pleading guilty to charges that include possessing real images and videos of ** or 11 years if I plead guilty, there is no way I would go for the shorter sentence by pleading to stuff I knew I didn't have or that I was innocent from.
And any defense lawyer with half a functioning brain could get those charges dismissed at the bare minimum if there was no physical evidence to back it up and could probably get the whole case dismissed if that evidence was planted.
Enjoyed the game but nice guy or not, he belongs in prison.

We saw it during covid. People with medical backgrounds in the U.S. lost Facebook and Youtube accounts because they shared "unacceptable" opinions. Pastors in Canada arrested for holding church services. Nikola Djokovic banned from competing in the Austrailian Open after being smeared as an "anti-vaxxer." Governments canceled school, weddings, funerals, closed restaurants. Do you remember the video of the poor guy all alone on a paddleboard in the ocean getting chased by police helicopters and speedboats?
Look up "first amendment auditor" on Youtube and you will see hundreds of videos by journalists exercising their right to film in public. Their rights are constantly violated by government officials who believe that feelings are more important than rights.
Fictional characters cannot be abused. Even if he was rendering the most horrific violence or rape porn it's still just something someone made on his computer. There is no victim. It is no different than if he sketched a nude picture of Erik Cartman on a paper napkin. Who has he harmed?
If someone plays a game as a noble knight, do you arrest him for stabbing? Maybe I don't care for that sort of thing or I think it's too violent or I think it's inappropriate. Do I have the right to censor you? That's not how freedom works.

LMAO asking if he is sure while spreading conspiracy theories without any proof is wild. All the news articles about him say that he also had images of real kids being abused and video recordings of his neighbours. This wasn't even a big news story in their country. It was mostly local news outlets that covered the story. They have no reason to lie about it. He is not Epstein and there isn't any government conspiracy to lie about him. Is it sad that the dude turned out to be a horrible person? Yea, but trying defend him by pushing false information without any proof is just crazy.

First off, he's a nobody. The government has no reason to attempt to smear him.
Second, even if all he had was artwork and no pictures of real people, it wouldn't matter from a legal perspective. Any depictions of anyone underage in a sexual manner are illegal. People who are of age roleplaying as being underage is illegal. Even pictures of fully clothed teens are illegal if they are in a sexual pose. Australian laws are fucking draconian.

I mean, my sources are the same as everyones. However, in Australia, you dont even need the real deal to be convicted. So why would they need to spread lies when they will convict him anyway? If you create a Loli-game over there, you are already in big trouble if you get caught. Even if you own artworks or cartoons of underage characters doing sexual things you are in trouble. So there would be no need to lie about him having the real deal, it is not like they need to justify anything.
And as the RandMierdin and BADJM already said, Westy is a nobody. Outside of a local newspaper nobody talked about it and there would be no reason to start a conspiracy theory about some random dude.
It is the sad reality that he also possessed the actual bad stuff. Which was also sad for me to hear, like most people outside of Australia I dont really think that creating a Loli-game is anything which should be punished. I would not gloat about it to my friends or anything, but those are pixels. But having the real deal is just disgusting.

There's a huge overlap between people that start with content like Hentai or Manga/Doujin and end up getting into Ageplay vids and Loli games, and then eventually find their way to actual CSAM. There are, I guarantee, people on this forum who have CSAM on their computers right this moment and/or know exactly where to get it if they want.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying loli fans are all actual ****s. For the vast, vast majority it's just a harmless fantasy. But some of them are, and some of them will defend others. How in the world can somebody defend Westy otherwise?
There's no reason not to take the Australian Government's case at anything other than face value here - as you said, their laws are so strict that all he had to do was have videos of women pretending to be under the age of consent - even if they are clearly adult women - and they could have busted him. Creating the loli games is enough to throw him in jail. They didn't *have* to make anything up.
So when people come in and start defending him saying "well, how do we KNOW he really had that stuff" it's like bro, c'mon. It's just Occam's Razor. Dude had 577 images and was filming his neighbors without consent. This is not just a dude who liked nudie pixels.

I am actually curious is there any study about this stuff, people that start with loli manga and stuff like that and end up searching for the real stuff? I started watching hentai and stuff like that in my teenage years and for me what it did was that now I don't have any interest in real women lol. Even for porn I haven't watched porn with real people in years. I either watch hentai videos, read hentai manga or play adult visual novels. Real porn just looks disgusting to me.

I'd imagine it's the kind of thing it's difficult to study- most people are not going to admit that they seek out child porn.
But I think it stands to reason that, even if there's no gateway effect, there's going to be a significant (even if not total) overlap between people who are drawn to underage animated characters and people who are drawn to real children, and obviously people who seek out real child porn are going to almost entirely be people who are attracted to real children.
As for whether there is a gateway effect or not... well, let's say I don't think many peoples' porn tastes deescalate with time. As in, plenty of people started out just looking up naked pictures (or seeing random boobs in like National Geographic or whatever), then moved on to hardcore porn, then got drawn to a specific fetish like BDSM or incest. I've never heard of the reverse happening.

Honestly, if I had to guess, I would think that it would go the opposite way: That someone with an attraction that is illegal and/or harmful to act on discovers the existence of virtual stuff and thinks, "Here we go, I can act on my feelings in a way that doesn't harm anyone." And honestly, if you don't actually find out the details, both situations look the same from the outside: Someone with virtual porn is found to be attracted to the real-life thing. It's just that cause and effect are totally reversed, and in the situation that I imagine, the virtual stuff is blameless, because the attraction would be there either way. Sadly, this is the case with a lot of things that people "know" to be harmful; they say "Oh, we see all these who did A and now B has happened, so obviously A causes B." When it could just as easily be that B causes A, or something else causes both A and B together, or A and B just both happen coincidentally. Things are rarely as simple or obvious as they seem.

I think this is an apples and oranges comparison here. Being raped or being tied up and tortured are fundamentally unpleasant experiences that some people find it pleasurable to simulate elements of. I don't think the same applies to simulated sex with an illegally aged person vs. real sex with an illegally aged person. The latter is not inherently unpleasant for someone who wants to do it.
Which is not to say that everyone who enjoys Proud Father is willing to have sex with a real 10 year old. Just that if they don't, it's not necessarily in the same way that a BDSM fetishist doesn't want to be actually tortured.
