LewdCorner Update
For now, mime and apollo have full control over LC and will be handling site decisions going forward.
I’m stepping back from making site changes for now and letting them decide how to move LC forward.

I think it's a balance between the two, but graphics are probably most important if I had to choose between the two. Bad graphics, it would be better to just read a text story and use your imagination instead of having bad graphics get in the way of that.
They're both important; I've played games with bad stories because the art and animation was good, and vice versa.
At the end of the day, though, I'm here for the graphics. If I wanted to read erotica, I wouldn't be playing 99% of these games.
Plot is often the main driver for such a good game. I can deal with less graphics if the plot is really great. However, we can't ignore that graphics does numbers for the plot.
It elevates the experience. But still, plot all the way!
The thing is, the graphics on one of these games is never going to match the quality of a dedicated animator making Overwatch loops or what have you. The strength of porn games as a medium is the ability to place you in the context of the sex act. Plot is more important, because it's what makes the medium work. Now, graphics can serve to enforce, or detract from plot. If a character's design makes me feel something just looking at her, that has already taken a load off of the writing which now no longer needs to try so hard to make me attached to her. If I have a negative reaction to the art, the writing is starting off on the back foot and will have a herculean struggle trying to win me back, if I give it the chance in the first place.
As long as the graphics do a good job at servicing the plot I can live with it
Its when they distract away from what is said to be happening or are just thrown in with no attempt at continuity or framing that I start to take issue.
As far as what will instantly turn me off certain tools that make no effort to have half decent looking male characters.
Cause a great story is captivating and makes me want to know what's gonna happen and attach myself to the characters. But if the art/animation is just the most basic models I've seen a 1000 times, no lighting, empty backgrounds, I just couldn't care less.
At the same time, you could have insanely good art but if every scene is broken grammar, doesn't make any sense plot wise, and is filled with. "Fuck yeah, you like a pussy fucking huh?" then the art can't carry.
You really can't have one or the other and expect the game to be successful
Graphics are the most important for adult games, but plot needs to match its skill with scope.
There are some surprisingly good writers, and for them this isn't an issue, but there's a huge problem with VNs that try to write an emotionally engaging story that just... don't. And that's a problem when you're trying to get to the good part and they keep babbling on about whatever their backstory is and it's like the worst erotic fanfiction ever written. Not even "so bad it's funny", just boring, which has ruined a number of games that otherwise had good graphics.
There are some games with bad writing that understand that and only include enough writing to engage the fantasy. She's a schoolgirl on a train, he's a train molester who snuck up behind her... and scene. And if you're an artist and not a writer, that's perfectly fine. The problem is so many VNs with bad stories mean you have to skip all the dialog, and then you miss the fantasy in your attempt to skip the awful story, just the worst of both worlds.
A good style and high quality art can really elevate a piece of media but if the writing is absolutely dreadful then it's kind of wasted. A well written thing can stick with you long after you're done with it but a bad one won't unless it's so bad it's good.
