Abandoned VN KN Ren'Py DAZ PGI-257 [Episode 1] [elfieeven]

4.00 star(s) 1 review
I LIKED IT!!!! Especially Katie. Waiting for the next one. Some scenes were 'dark', I particularly prefer 'light' ones, even to value the work (and the characters) more. I also think that the artists (all of them) should include full-body solo images from various angles of the characters, like a photo shoot... I don't know if I made myself clear, anyway, I liked it and I'm grateful.

Why is the name of this game "PGI-257" ?? Does that mean something to some people??

For some, it may be more important, but everyone wants to eat and update their PC, so you can't not think about income, and doing VN when you have a tedious job is an option for almost no one. Therefore, this question is always relevant, even if it is a relatively small amount of money.
Plenty do exactly that. Prob less than 1 in a 1000 devs make their AVN their day job, they either already have one that odds are good pays far more money than an AVN ever would or are already retired with a good pension that would get complicated with extra income depending on the situation (ie social security in US will get docked if you make money from somewhere else, so you would gain nearly nothing anyway). For most it's a hobby, not a reliable livelihood. How many do you know of actually make money with their hobby? For most that's just something fun to do, and way more often than not is a financial expense rather than an income. My uncle collects, reloads and shoots guns for fun. He has a decent 3 BR house and a few acres with it but his gun collection he's prob spent even more money on that than everything else he owns put together. Only way to monetize that would be make a YT channel showing off his bragging rights, and even then it would prob still be a net loss even with a million subs and somehow no one using Adblock. As far as monetizing AVNs I will not be surprised in the next few years if Visa and MC both simply start banning all porn like they have incest and just about anything else that makes porn worth fapping to. You can bet pretty much every platform like Patreon and even SS that doesn't use crytpo will be fine with that like the boot lickers they are. Even then I doubt that will be the end of AVNs (or porn). Most will either move to crypto with the rest of the porn industry or simply do it for fun rather than even try to monetize it (as they should anyway, I have 0 interest in supporting devs with no spine or artistic integrity anyway that make that almighty $ the priority and I doubt I'm the only one).

It is explained in the game. It would be a huge spoiler to explain, so just play it, it is worth it.

... uh... dunno if i should mention it here...
well, since i started to type anyway, why not mention it...
so, yeah... i am "stuck" ... (okay, no, not really... just unwilling to continue) - after starting the game i did what i usually do, head to preferences to adjust sound and stuff...)
now while i am typing this, i still didn't start the actual game... - menu-theme-song is just so nice, i can't find it in me to start the game... oh and as mentioned before, nice menu...
Yes... the menu... I... uhm... DEFINITELY was the one who created it :D

Actually, I was blessed to have an early 'Unnamed' tester who provided valuable feedback AND got bored enough to create the menu for me. I think he was just really sick of seeing the default renpy junk ;) I'll pass along your comment though :D
so if you don't mind - i'd be happy if you could send my regards, too - really appreciate it!

so... i guess i'll let the song run another time... and maybe start the game soon... - yeah... probably... JUST one more time... or two... xD

I would say otherwise because many people try to make it their job, but what percentage of those who succeed.... There's no statistics.
The thing is that usually hobbies have a slightly different look, it can be handicrafts, cooking, etc., which in any case in the eyes of society is usually less criticized. Judging by the text you live or have lived in another part of the world and our life experience is radically different. What for you is less than the state average salary for me has always been above middle class. But that's a separate topic.
Regarding earnings, the situations where you have a part time job, studying, or a not too tedious office job and a construction or warehouse job are markedly different, so in each of these situations the developer has different opportunities. And some people come into this business with the belief that in a couple months they will gain popularity and gain subscribers, which is definitely overconfident. Either way, working full time it's almost impossible to create a good VN and so you need to have a vision for the future.
Okay, this is all off-topic, and here we need to discuss VN, so let's not create provocations for admins.

This looks very promising, wishing you all the best and hope this gets off the ground!

I was wondering for a bit what Lily's pills were for until this

Lily has pretty severe ADHD, which her pills "mostly" help with. Occasionally though she can be found "Lilying", as the family likes to call it :D

Aw man, I was hoping MC and wife could enjoy their kitties together.

A bit of a bizarre premise, but the girls are just too adorable.

Congrats on the first release of your game. You mention a lot of future plans so I have to ask: How long has this first chunk been in the works? How much of that was one-off setup work vs how much is distinct to each scene, character, or location? What sort of update schedule are you hoping to follow?

I ask both because I am curious and because I think these are very important things to think about moving forward for you with the plans you've mentioned.

Regardless, great work so far and I look forward to seeing more.

Really nice touch with the transparent wife in the banner pic. I didn't catch it at first and went back to look at it after the wife got blown up because I thought she'd be around to head up the harem.

The intent was to give me something to point at if anyone said but you showed the wife in the banner pic! She is technically there but IF you paid attention...

There are actually multiple details in the banner pic that I will explain at some point in the future.

First post in the Dev thread was on July 6th but by that time I had already spent a good chunk of time learning DAZ before that. I definitely don't expect Episode 2 to take as long, since I'm already well into creating it. I have all of the scenes planned out, most of them have a rough draft script and I'm creating renders for the first scene and the last two scenes.

I'll be posting an update on Monday where I'll explain how the workflow for Ep2 has been changed so that I can get feedback from my reviewers/testers as quickly as possible. At the end of the day my goal is to try to find the most efficient work process possible, so that I can create two games in parallel, without either of them suffering from slow updates as often happens when devs have two things on the go.

Definitely keeping an eye on this.
Some renders of the twins are super cute, especially ADHD daughter.

Find it funny how the dev basically calls us all nonces within the first 2 minutes of opening the game made me laugh to be honest.

true, but don't reduce it to just that, please. ;)
so, after finally managing to actually start the game... let me tell you a big: "Thank you!"
i am actually considering doing a proper review - least i could do to honor your work.

Any specific issues or just a busy day? :D

This is a lot bigger than many first releases I've seen. Like 3-5x so. If I had to guess assuming he has a day job and mostly doing everything himself maybe 12-18 months? So don't expect Ch2 until maybe xmas 2025, which I hope I'm wrong but it's free so can't complain, even though I'm curious what boogeyman Lily saw (hopefully it's his sis that kinda ghosted the MC years ago, but prob not). For reference Deaufosse/Malignant is in the same situation. He does it for free, but don't expect more than annual updates.
