I just want to say that I love the idea of a perverted mom grooming her son. There aren't enough games that do this, especially without having to corrupt the mom first. You would be my hero.

Perverted son is the easiest path, if you don't have too much experience in AVN-making, maybe a better choice.

Don't try squeez in both, and aunts and sisters. It will be too complex, or you game will be too unreal, or just falling apart. Don't aim too high.

And before you begin to work, you should have a clear roadmap in your mind, from where you want to start and to where you want to go with your protagonists.

perverted mom is the way to go. but i feel milf x shota is overplayed, or at least for me as i'm no longer interested in that tag. what got me out of it is the constant cucking of the older brother scenarios. the mom would always fuck and favor the younger brother while ignoring the older brother who is a much better person and deserves the mother's/milf's love more. constantly seeing this over and over again, made me no longer like mom/milf x shota.

Was thinking about making a VN but I'm torn between a story where the mom is perverted and tries to get in her innocent son's pants or a perverted son trying to get in his loving, but innocent mother's pants.

For perverted mom, I was thinking she'll slowly groom him while he's pretty apprehensive and unsure about what she's doing. Eventually she'll keep pushing her luck until she gets what she wants. I think this will only be fun if he either doesn't want this from his mommy or is so innocent that he has no idea what she's doing to him. If he wants to fuck her, then I think it gets into vanilla territory.

For perverted son, he'll try to rub one off on her any chance he can get, whether that's from doing sleep stuff or otherwise. I don't think Mom should ever enjoy what he's doing or else this gets into pretty vanilla territory, at least for my tastes. She doesn't have to hate him for it, but she shouldn't want it.

Both of these will feature a mother character who is very sweet and nurturing, though obviously the perverted one will be very forward while the innocent one will be reserved and resist complying with her perverted son's requests for lewd favors.

I'm really trying to find a way to incorporate both of these into one story though because I like the idea of both too much. I could do one first and then the other but, including the Aunties and sisters planned, there's too many characters to design if I am going for both. What do you think?

Pick one side and roll to it. Trying to do both is a lot of time and dedication.
I'd say perverted mother makes more sense unless you want main character to be nearing his teenage years. That's where the sexual urges kick in strongly enough to consider going after the mom. But honestly, you'd be just getting into a territory that 700 different doujins have already done over and over and over and over again.

Commit to a perverted mother idea. Make her an actual pervert. Where the son is just an innocent boy who gets slowly corrupted and used by his mother. If you want to actually give the shota control, make the woman a submissive one. Where she is in essence training her son-master as replacement for a husband or something. A corruption story where she starts out nurturing and caring. Trying to innocently nudge the son.
Then she turns to control him. Try to teach him how to fuck.
Then around the endgame she surrenders control and embraces her role of a lover... all the while remaining a mother.

Perhaps have mentions of her fantasizing touching her son for years but now she has managed to break and try committing to it. Make it a slow burn story. There is no shame in slow burn stories if you're willing to c o m m i t.
If you wanna make a shota story, probably have him be a shota. No big dicked monstrosities. That is one of the easiest ways to ruin a story.
One way to draw more people would be perhaps incorporating a side story about the mother doing the same to her young daughter. That way you unlock a love triangle where you can have a woman, loli, shota.
Then have both straight scenes of mom + son or sister + brother. Followed by possibility of mom + daughter loli scenes. Could be enough to have another wave of people be interested in your game.

All great suggestions here, that we have seen before. Why not have a whole family where the protagonist aka the player can choose who to pursue. Dad, daughter, mom, son...have something for everyone. You can still have your main focus such as Mom MC pursuing shota son but you would have a more well rounded and realistic family with more members, throw in 1 or 2 scenes with Mom and daughter if the player chooses, or brother and sister. It's not like the extra family members have to appear often, but at least we know they exist. The extra renders are a sacrifice for catering to a much larger player base and also add variety. Also, if I'm playing as the Mom, why can't there be a scene where the side character daughter fucks the side character dad? That I've never seen in a Mom MC game. It's not NTR if you don't choose the option, but people who want the option will certainly appreciate it. How much would it hurt the game to have even a single mother/daughter scene? Sure, your majority may not care for it but the game will be full of their content anyway and you will attract more players just by including it. However, committing to just Mom and shota will prevent subscribers from arguing for more of the content they prefer so there is that benefit. Just some things to consider
