Abandoned VN Ren'Py Our Island [S2-S2_0.01a1][Anonymous Dev]

Jesus, folks.

Enough talk about 13's personal issues. He has his reason and made his choice. Respect it and move on. Talk only about the game and nothing more. No more about his wife, nada. Continue to do so, will result in a warning point and post deletion. At the very least, show some damn respect to 13 for getting this far. Smh.

Hear, hear. This was the game that introduced me to LC, and I would like to keep it as a happy memory.

I still hold out hope that somebody that he worked with backed up the assets before he deleted them. We can dream right? His games were awesome, and it would be great to see someone pick up the mantle.

Considering that's never happened and even Proud Father (probably the dead AVN with the most backed up assets there is) has yet to continue even after a year and a half with Seath changing his mind keep dreaming I guess.

Shhhhhhhhhh. Let me pretend.

To be honest, with AI developing 3D models from pictures as it is able to do now, the most likely situation is that somehow the assets can be "AI retrofitted" from the existing images. It looks easier to do so when so many images were produced with them.
Of course, they will not be 100% accurate representations of the original, but probably very similar in style. It can be used for a "revamp" not only of this abandoned title but of others in the same status. How likely would it be? Not sure, there are legal considerations, not only technical, but I expect it to be something at least possible for some titles. Also, I expect in the next few years to see games where the models can be "modified" by the users - it would provide at least plausible deniability and at best the possibility to distribute legal games that can be adapted to niche interests later (by the buyer).

One can hope. Most people outside the retard countries don't care much about the legal considerations, but the financial ones (those disclaimers and dumb questions about age everyone lies about even when not 18 are to kiss payment platform ass more than legal advice), with lolis in any form getting harder to make money from without resorting to crypto. Even just animation and other artists are dropping out of the scene.

Why was this updated to season 2? I thought this was finished.

The next update that was being tested but had not been released was shared by somebody, so the game contains just a little more now, but it is still dead because the dev is no longer developing any games.

Thanks hopefully a aspiring dev in the future can maintain the project with 13's permission or someone makes something similar, but I'm not holding my breath.

Why do you have to dance to everyone else's tune? Such a good game is simply canceled!
Do you have to listen to everyone else's shitty comments?

He quit due to being asked to do so by his wife. Not due to any shitty comments from randos in the game threads. :(

I just played through this again after trying the remake just to compare. Noticed something and wanted to comment on it's implications for the future of the story... but doing it on that thread is premature (it's not caught up to the right point yet) so I figure I'll say it here and we can have a theoretical discussion.

So, at the end of Ch 5, right before Day 23, we get a quick scene of the girl Cindy (who the MC mistook for his wife at the resort while super drunk and fucked), where she is feeling sick in the morning before school. (Probably it's too soon for morning sickness but whatever.) Why would we need to see this scene, when it looks like we're gonna be stuck on the island forever? I wonder if the MC's indiscretion with Cindy is going to save them (but send him to jail.) ;)

Brother-in-law failed to send a distress call correctly so no one is going to be looking for them until the boat rental is up. But by the time that happens, the shit will have hit the fan at BIL's workplace and the cops will be looking for him. So when they fail to return the boat, people are gonna think they fled and so the search will most likely focus on where they could have fled to instead of if they could have sunk in the storm.

2 weeks after the manhunt is on (assuming 1 week boat rental), the reason for Cindy's unexplained illness will be discovered, her parents will lose their shit and an investigation into her rape (because technically it was statutory even if she was into it) will begin and eventually collide with the manhunt. Nothing about this would point them to the sunken ship scenario, but after 2 weeks of fruitless searching at foreign ports, maybe the injection of Cindy's parents' anger into the investigations will trigger a re-evaluation of everything and maybe someone will think of the storm then...

Cindy's story is explained a bit more in The Fosters: Back 2 School

I would recommend playing that game to find out but if you want to know without playing the game:
Kit in that game is Cindy's daughter and explained that her mom never saw the MC of this game again and had never been with anybody else since.

:oops:o_OI did not make that connection. I even posted about that Angels cameo in The Fosters 2 in the OSiL thread. Seeing the story from this side and knowing the state of the MCs mind kinda makes Cindy's experience even sadder now though.

Agree. That's why in my playthrough I had the MC drunkenly fool around with his sister instead when the choice came up, because I was horrified at the thought of a drunken rape being that poor girl's first (and as it turns out, only) sexual experience (and experiencing an extremely youthful pregnancy into the bargain). Despite choosing lolis over milfs almost every time I have the choice in VNs.
