Off-Topic about Linux vs Windows crap

What I don't get, is the fact, that you quoted a 4 month old post, that I made in a game thread and started now a discussion I never wanted in a off topic thread, when my main argument was, that a game dev cuts himself actively and intentionally off from the majority of players and supporters by modifying his VN in a way, that they aren't usable anymore on Win, while he also says that Microsoft and Apple are the big bad companies, while he supports Android, that comes from the biggest spyware company the planet has seen, Google. So please, leave me alone with this unnecessary and (at least from my side) unwanted BS discussion. I don't care what you use or how you view the threat from these companies. You do you, because I won't force my opinion on you as well.
At first I quoted your post in that topic in question but it is an off-topic, so I decided to move the post to a more appropriate topic, so that we don't spam the developer's topic.

And I'm not forcing anything on you, I simply told you where you were wrong.

As for Windows, some things can't be avoided/disabled, no matter how smart you are bc the installer is closed source and there's nothing you can do to go around that. Like the BS thing that it refuses to install, if you have 4 or more devices (partitions) bc it wants to create at least one more unwanted partition (sometimes it creates at least 3 more partitions and it never asks for permission, it just creates them, whether you want that or not). Since it's an OS made by imbeciles, it can't work with more than 3 partitions. If you don't understand what I'm talking about, try to install Windows on a computer with 4 (or more) storage devices, it doesn't matter if they're SSD or HDD, only their number matters. And to make things worse - it will still refuse to install, even if you convert ALL 4 devices to GPT as the Windows installer requests. On top of that the Windows disk manager is even more idiotic than the people who made it bc when you try to covert a disk to GPT partition table, it automatically creates two partitions with random sizes on that same disk and eventually you'd find out that the first partition for an unknown reason has remained MBR and the other has been converted to GPT. You'll have to run GParted (a linux disk management program) to fix the mess that Windows Disk Manager has created.

Bottom line - you use whatever you like. Like I said, I simply told where you were wrong and why I hate that thing (WIndows), after 20 years of self-torturing with it.

Well, I will humor you one more time, my system has 4 physical drives (1x M.2 NVME, 1x M.2, 1x SATA SSD and 1x SATA HDD), the NVME drive and the HDD are splitt in 2 each, so 6 partitions, and Windows runs fine and can manage them. I don't know with what crap you worked before, maybe it was a restricted version or so, but I assure you, you can make these things work. But as I also said, you pulled me into this thread, just because I made a post 4 months ago, where the main point was not the hate against Win or Linux but the (IMO) bad decision of a dev to punish every Win and/or Apple user out there and then being aggressive about that. That was not needed. I wish you a nice evening/day (depending on your timezone, here it's evening), I'm out and won't reply any further!

Did you link the wrong file?
No, I linked the correct file. But if you think you're so smart to change the extension, this time you won't be able to. This time I'm giving you an example with one of my mods for ETS 2 which is normally that extensionless file. But when I pack it in a certain way and then change the extension to zip, you see an empty window with no content in it.

Good luck this time! :D :D

The best part? 7zip for Windows does show the content, but if you attempt to unpack it, 7zip says the file is corrupted bc it doesn't support this kind of compression. So the war against Windows is won. :p :p :D

Is there a possibility that languages between yours and someone else's language could be going against each others? (I'm a noob, have zero clues on Linux stuff so I'm just throwing out ideas here)

Will check thqat out in a moment but I never adjusted the extension because there is no deficit to leaving the file extensionless. the file extension doesnt CHANGE anything on windows. You can open an extensionless zip without renaming it. Its still a zip. Leaving the file extension off lke you did isnt a factor in being able to open it

-edit-

or maybe I wont. file not found for your provided link

1. Try the archive now and see what I added just now.
2. Try renaming the archive to '.com' and then we'll talk again how the extension doesn't matter. ;)

No language barrier issue. Just disagreeing on the effectiveness / pointlessness of trying to hide files in a program that cant do it to begin with. Any renpy game files that will be accessible to either a windows or linux user will be accessible to both.

I don't see any insults anywhere, so IDK what you're talking about.

No where in their post do they say anything about anyone insulting anyone. They were talking about a language barrier.

Yeah, there's always going to be new ways to access hidden files. Lol.

Wasn't what I was talking about. Lol. seronis said it better. Language barrier. Ye poopers are always insulting each others. :p

At this point you're just using a non standard zip file for random distribution and its unrelated to having a linux renpy game work on windows. Any linux renpy game is going to work on windows.

Also what is the point of a bank_data.sii and speed_limits.,sii files in that archive?

Apparently seronis still doesn't understand what "higher level" means. Nothing to do with the cross-platform renpy.
Think of the higher level packaging this way: you have a silver necklace which you put in a bag and then in a bank metal box somewhere. But even so anyone with your key can access it. Unless someone changes the lock of the vault door and only certain people in the world have the new key. No matter how hard you try, your key doesn't fit and you can't unlock the vault door and access that box with the necklace.

I understand it perfectly. I(ts just OFF TOPIC for anything I had ever said. Thus that detail DOESNT MATTER. I dont care if you go off on some OTHER rant that had nothing to do with anything being said.

winshit can suck a fart out of my ass

that is all

PS: if the game can run on linux it is the superior choice :3

windows is full of crap but mandatory for gaming unfortunetly

Windows does not need to be mandatory for gaming. We need to support Linux and other FOSS platforms. Fuck those tech tyrants.

Want to switch the OS frrom Windows and friends swear by Linux Mint. Does anyone else have a better recomendation?

By far the best beginner friendly Linux distro I have tried. I highly recommend that one too.

I like using Cinnamon edition, it's my main OS that I use daily. Eventually, I am going to try their Debian edition.
Linux is not hard to use. That BS myth of it being hard is the fault of idiots just parroting shit.

I mostly use Windows and knows that best but the Linux systems I've used have been good too, mostly very similar to windows. I don't really like MAC that is only a messy system in my opinion.
