So, from my understanding, you're blaming others from something entirely different from AVN?

Unfortunately, I'm only limited to Windows. If I had the money, I'd try to get them all.

If I start writing why I hate Windows (after nearly 20 years of using it), I'll have to write till the end of the month, so I'll tell you the short version: because the person (or company) who will give me orders what and how to happen on my own computer hasn't been born yet. That's why Windows is back in the trash where it came from and now my entire computer is Linux only, meaning that even the filesystems are supported by Linux. I deleted almost all of the software for Windows and left a handful of free programs that have no decent replacements.

It started with something different than AVNs. Then I came across an adult game and back then I still didn't know the genre was called AVN. Guess what - that game is Windows only, it's full of unfixed bugs and crashes to desktop whenever it wants. But considering it was made using the Google Chrome engine, I can't say I'm surprised. :D And you can guess correctly - the developer refused to make it for Linux. His next game is supposedly Linux compatible but if you guess once again that its executable for Linux won't start the game, you'll guess correctly. Because the noob has seen Linux only on a picture and has no idea how to make his game to work in Linux. Unfortunately he keeps using the same crappy Chrome engine, instead of renpy, so I can't even fix it. The Windows version of his second game somewhat runs with Wine but it too has tons of glitches, one of which is the inability to run it in fullscreen. And even if you do manage to run it in fullscreen mode, then it will freeze and crash when you try to exit the game. And since it crashes, it won't remember your last save game, so a workaround for that is to save your game twice in a row.

All that is too much trouble to go through, so from that point on I refuse to play or subscribe for games that support Windows only, especially if they're not made with renpy.

linux for servers
It depends on the distribution. There's a reason that SteamOS is a modifed Arch Linux and it's not based on Debian anymore. Debian and Ubuntu are mostly used for servers because they're incapable of anything else. But on Arch Linux in most cases (say 98% of the cases) I just click the exe and the game starts. What's funny is that the most of the games I've ever played in Windows and then later in Linux, run better in Linux than they do in Windows. A few perfect examples for that: Mad Max, GTA 5, RDR 2, The Witcher 3, any Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 5 & Serious Sam 4.
Last year in July the confirmed number of game titles running perfectly on Steam Deck (with SteamOS) was 5,000. Nowadays that number could be 10,000. That's because Linux is crap. And because Windows is such a great OS, that it rules only the Desktop and nothing else. :ROFLMAO:

Edit: this post was supposed to be merged with the previous one. After all I started writing it there. But why it wasn't merged - I have no idea.

Yeah but the whole hating windows to the point of wanting nothing to do with windows is kind of out there. This is out of spite. I mean, some people are dickheads for not including Linux. And going down this path, that makes others who are/were in a similar situation as you to do same thing you just did by going to the opposite side.

I mean, honestly, I'm a Android hater. (I'm Deaf :ROFLMAO: ) But I don't really get mad when someone say they won't port to Windows, Linux, or Mac. I just pretty much say "Fuck it. Your lost."

That lost is losing supporters and potential allies that you could have.

So instead of being anti-windows, I'd consider equality and to just call people that only produce one thing out of laziness "Shitty people".

You're right it's out of spite. Bc after I started using Linux, I had dual boot with Windows where Windows was used for just a few games that back then wouldn't run in Linux. Nowadays they do but back then they didn't. And since Windows is Windows, at some point I had to reinstall it. It refused to install bc apparently 5 storage devices (meaning 5 partitions) were too many for it:

You must be registered to see media

In order to make things shittier for the user, Microshit have made the old method unuseable. The old method was to manually copy the entire content of the Windows ISO to the target partition and then boot from that partition. This method used to work up until 2018. After that Microshit did something to the installer and it kept refusing to install Windows, if there were more than 2 partitions. Converting 2 of the largest partitions to GPT didn't do the trick as someone suggested back then. So I kicked Windows in its arse back to the trash and converted all of my storages to EXT4. Nowadays almost all of the partitions are XFS, not EXT4, bc XFS was designed for storing and moving (copying) large files very fast (with the maximum write speed of the receiving storage) - something that neither the ancient NTFS or EXT4 can brag about. When copying/moving files from one device to another, with NTFS the speed starts high, then drops to 60-65 MB/sec (if you're lucky). If you're not lucky, it could drop down to mere kilobytes per second and that happens even on NVME SSD devices. Whereas with XFS, if the maximum write speed of the device is 5GB/second, that's the speed XFS will maintain until the process is completed. I've tested it many times. The last test simply burried Windows into the ground - I moved (moved, not copied, meaning "cut & paste") a whole TV show (177 GB) from the 500GB SSD to the 4TB HDD (t's a hybrid between HDD and SSD) in 13 minutes and the writing speed it reached was 815 MB/second. Go ahead and accomplish that with the ancient NTFS which hasn't been updated since 1993... :D
Ofc there are many other reasons for me to hate Windows, but the reason that it refused to install bc the partitions were too many is the main one.

Linux doesn't care how many partitions I have. I could have even 55 partitions, it will still install without a hitch.

And finally, the main reason I stayed with Linux is this:
Microsoft do whatever they want with my own computer.
With Linux I do whatever I want with my own computer.

I can customize the Linux desktop to unimaginable levels to the point you won't even recognize what it is, unless I tell you. Whereas with Windows you can always tell it's Windows bc the most of your rights there are limited.

Lol. Well, here, we don't really discriminate against anything. Much like Kinks, (I hate feet fetish) everyone has their own preferences. On games, you can try making a request and see if anyone can port Windows games to Linux. I believe it's far more easier to do so with Renpy than it is Unity, Unreal, RPG Makers and whatever else there is. Much like with Cebs, he often port Renpy games to Android for people, even if it's a small group of people (Like, 1 person). Though, one thing to definitely remember is that not everyone can afford to get other type of Devices. Actually, I doubt a lot of us would be here if we could. :ROFLMAO:

If the game is made with renpy, I don't have to ask, I can simply rebuild it for Linux myself. I already did so for 2 games bc the start script didn't work. Rebuilding the games fixed the problem.

My computer is 8 years old (built in 2015), with a CPU which is 10 years old (the model of the CPU was released in 2013), the most of the storages (except for the two largest ones - these two are respectively 2 and 1 year old) are also 8 years old, the videocard was released in 2020 when I bought it, the memory is also 8 years old - 32GB DDR3-1600 RAM. And yet, with that 8-10 years old PC I can play any game, even the latest one. On Linux. :D
I have even recorded a few ( ) but got lazy and I don't feel like recording linux gameplay anymore. If you want a less lazy person who keeps playing and recording linux gameplay, try this channel, this dude is a linux guru and there aren't many games that he can't run:

So, I doubt it's about devices. More like about the devices behind the keyboard, if you catch my drift... :D :p :p

Yup but others don't know that. Haha.

My PC's new. Lol. Made last year. Though, I'm sure the model type is a few years old. Just with some upgraded parts to it. It sounds like you got a Monster in your hand. That's a good thing.

Yup. A monster on which I can do whatever I want. What I can do is limited only by my own knowledge, not by a person (S. Nadella).

If anything I see unnecessary hate for Linux and FOSS. The reaction to Windows users is deserved for shitting on Linux. Most game developers give Linux the cold shoulder. I wont get into it but it's pretty hypocritical for Window users to bitch about a game not available to their platform. If it was Linux, Mac, Android etc. they wouldn't give a shit at all.
Unlike those coomsumer cucks, I value the freedom of my OS, software etc. If it wasn't f FOSS, my games would not exist. Especially given the big brother nature and tyranny of today's IT world. Me creating controversial content sees the necessity of FOSS and decentralized FOSS social media platforms for them as well. Again I don't care to elaborate much more, I've spent enough time answering when I could be working on my game.

I'm not doing these games for money. It's about the artistic freedom and changing the industry for the better. Gaming has been shit for too long, not even fun anymore today's games. FOSS is key for artistic freedom. Though not many think about it, FOSS also helps out with preserving and keeping the game alive, think emulation. Most emulators have that legal grey area due to licenses, and the code being closed isn't exactly helpful.
All my games are FOSS and non-profit. So no one is prohibited from modifying, sharing etc.

Those who hate all platforms but the ones they got are wrong. I don't blame you for being mad at them for that. Shit, I'd join you in that madness. There's just one problem... You bring down the innocents when you only stick with just one platform out of pure spite. That's, like, really unfair for others as well. Especially since it's been known.

It's different if they really COULDN'T do it like with how some games using Ren'Py can't go to Android. Like smashing the letter X on repeat to close a door from zombies or something. Otherwise, if it's been known that they are a hater of other platforms, that's when they officially become "The Bad Guy".

Bluestacks is a software that emulates an Android OS. It's basically a OS that you start while Windows is still running, like a game. It's very easy to use.

But the point still stands, the dev still cuts himself from basically 75%+ of the potential playerbase. And what for? For a conspiracy theory that Microsoft and Apple are the most spyware heavy companies, who collect data from the users to use them and because Linux and Android are open source. Jokes on him, Google does the same with Android in a even more heavy way without the possibilities to deactivate most of them and nobody speaks about the possibility that the devs behind Linux are any better. Just because something is published as open source project, doesn't automatically mean that these OS are any better than closed OS. Open source always means, that there could always someone more shady be involved, than the big companies.
Open source means that literally a few million developers world wide are looking at the code and believe me that most of them, if not all of them, do not like to be tracked and spied on, so if they see such a thing in the code, they'll remove it.
You think the closed source OS (Windows, in particular) doesn't track you, but you couldn't be more wrong. They admit to be doing so in their TOS but since they know the Windows users never bother to read the TOS, they do whatever they want.

084jCN8.png

If I have the number of your credit/debit card, the expiration date, the name on your card and the 3-digit security code on its back, I can easily drain it from all of your money and there's nothing you can do about it bc by installing Crapindows, you have agreed to the TOS you never bothered to read.
And how do I get that information? By purposefully integrating a keylogger into the OS which does what its name says - logs every single key pressed by you and sends it over to me via the telemetry. And that's not even the worst. The worst is that they don't say what they do with this data once they have it. But I'll tell you - they sell it to third parties. Bill Gates, back when he was still the CEO of MS, said that the income from selling user data brings MS more than $400 billion a year. Knowing Microsoft's greed, they wouldn't hesitate to sell that user data to get this much money.

But leaving all that aside, you really don't know what you're talking about bc Linux, quite literally, rules the world, whereas Windows (and Mac, for that matter) rules only the Desktop. Linux is in the onboard computers of cars, buses, trams, streetcars (trolleybusses), trucks, space shuttles, planes, choppers... Linux is also in your pocket (Android is modified Linux), it's in your home - all routers are being run by Linux, all smart TVs, all set top boxes for TVs. All the 500 supercomputers are with Linux. And because Windows is such a great OS, the entire NASA network of computers and servers, including the ISS, is run by Linux. 99% of the webservers, cloud and VPN services in the world are also run by Linux. Why? Because all of that requires stability that Windows could never provide, especially ever since Spyware 10 was released.
Add to that that the linux gaming is constantly growing, all thanks to Arch Linux and Valve Corporation and it won't be long before Microsoft abandons Windows as a project, because nowadays even games that require DX12 can be played in Linux. And to make things even worse for Windows, many of them run better than they do in Windows. If you don't believe me, take a look at this dude's channel on YouTube. He plays literally hundreds of games on Arch Linux (so do I, I'm just lazier than him and don't upload every gameplay anymore):
Last July, the confirmed titles for Steam Deck (which runs on SteamOS which is now based on Arch Linux) were 5,000. "Confirmed titles" means games running perfectly without a hitch. Nowadays they're probaby twice that number.
Oh, and the best part about the best OS (Windows)? There are billions of viruses for it bc of its ancient NT kernel which hasn't been updated since the 90's, whereas for Linux the viruses are just handful, they always target servers and they can do damage only if the server matches some specific conditions, which makes the virus even more useless. You with your "perfect" closed source OS are constantly under the threat of this and that virus, keep changing antivirus programs and they still find a way to get downloaded themselves on your computer. Whereas since 2015 I forgot what a virus was bc there are none for the Linux Desktop.
And finally, not to mention your "perfect" Windows Update which usually creates more problems than before... Forums about Windows are full of topics like "This or that stopped working after Windows update".

The same thing happens with Linux too but it's so rare, that you can hardly even notice it, not to mention that due to the open source nature of Linux, if a problem arises, we can fix it ourselves in most cases. Which only leads me to the conclusion that

Renpy is FOSS in nature, so you couldn't stop anyone from modifying your game, even if you tried. I came across some poor attemts to hide the code but they were glitchy as hell when running these games, so I don't imagine they'll have a large playerbase.

I never said, that Windows is a pefect OS, I know it has more flaws than a fishnet stocking has holes, but it's still the most used OS on the home user base. Why? Probably because the majority of AIO systems is sold with Windows and not everybody is capable of installing other OS. But just because Linux has millions of devs working on it, doesn't automatically mean it's more secure than Win or all of Apple's OS. And honestly, if you're somewhat capable of using Linux, you're also smart enough do deactivate certain settings of Win or to be wise enough to not share every tiny bit of data through the same program every fucking time. And in addition IF you're that smart, you won't do it on any other OS as well.

What I don't get, is the fact, that you quoted a 4 month old post, that I made in a game thread and started now a discussion I never wanted in a off topic thread, when my main argument was, that a game dev cuts himself actively and intentionally off from the majority of players and supporters by modifying his VN in a way, that they aren't usable anymore on Win, while he also says that Microsoft and Apple are the big bad companies, while he supports Android, that comes from the biggest spyware company the planet has seen, Google. So please, leave me alone with this unnecessary and (at least from my side) unwanted BS discussion. I don't care what you use or how you view the threat from these companies. You do you, because I won't force my opinion on you as well.
