I actually prefer the idea of one male with 2-3 females. That way each character can have more of a personality and individual identity within the story.

An example would be a story I read years ago (I cannot remember the name now), but it was a spy team (like the old Mission Impossible) with four members, 1 guy 3 girls.

Only one of the girls was the Fem-Fatal seductress, the other two were skilled in other areas.

That was probably the single best 'poly' relationship-type story I have ever read.
