I don't mind it in the game as long as it gives you an avoidable option. My though process in the story is if it wasn't a decision I made its not canon...but I don't mind watching the scene play out.

I don't care if it's in the game as long as there's a way to avoid it. I do prefer when there's a bit of a warning or obvious leadup so it's clear when its coming up. It doesn't really offend me or anything I just prefer not to experience it in my first playthrough. I'll view the scenes after i finish the story.

to me its really depend how the story is write. are you playing the MC? or are you just along for the ride? is everyone fucking everyone?

If the story is just a free for all then cool it just part of the story. if your are playing as the MC and start getting involved into you playing this character thinking your building a harem and then out of no where your girl has sex with someone else is a bit jolting. yet a story that just has everyone kind of during there own thing and some of the girls cheat or what ever you want to call it it just not as bad. the story is more open to this, and your kind of not playing a lone male with a harem all to himself. sure some people love the stuff and that's find. that's why tags and letting people know what the over all plot can help not get such a reaction.

Although its a stretch with most of these so called games, I see the NTR tag and I think loser. Not interested in playing a game where you're guaranteed to lose. I don't complain about it though, just don't play that game...there are exceptions though, like the game "Trolley Trouble" it's ntr but you play as the NTR'er and for whatever reason it doesn't bother me that way.

I don't enjoy true NTR personally, not the worst thing in the world but when I come across it I typically stop playing and move on, but there's a perspective element that doesn't get discussed a lot.

Netorare, Netorase and Cheating can all be the same Story told from different perspectives - if the narrative never actually puts us in the shoes of the person being cheated on and conjures situations meant to make the reader/player feel jealous/emasculated then it's not Netorare.
But a lot of people that play these games don't understand that and cry "NTR!" until moderators add the tag to appease them and further blur the lines between the three genres.

I feel people who have a strong visceral hatred of it may have a problem not separating fantasy and reality. Yet somehow, they are blissfully ignorant that they are not the only one who owns the characters of the games they're playing. Thousands of other people are playing the same game, with the same characters. Unless they are the ones who created the game, and have not shared the game, "their girls" are with other people, right now.

Fact is though that NTR is one of the most popular genres of adult games.

Tbh I don't really get why it is such a heated topic. I don't put myself in the place of the mc in the games I play so maybe its just that. I play these games for good porn and I can usually look past NTR unless it is the main tag. And to be fair a lot of what people consider NTR is not NTR at all
