[Site News] Members+ Requirement System Update

Not sure what you mean.

Honestly, I don't know either. 👉👈

And I'm sorry, but I think my thoughts are too absurd and nonsensical to explain publicly. 🤪
So, before I embarrass myself even more than I already have, I'd rather not go into further detail or delve deeper into the subject. 🤐
As I said, I'm not a techie and I don't know anything about this kind of things. 😅

Are prestige ranks currently paused? I have enough coins, but I get a "Not enough balance." message.
When I get back home I’ll take a look I may have forgot to switch their currency

I like the changes, it encourages engagement, but it's not too tedious to the point that it becomes a chore to fulfill them. Someone should be able to attain that in like a week of minimal activeness, or faster if they are more active. Also, grandffathering in those that already have M+, but doesn't quite meet the requirement is great.

It's a good idea, the implementation needs tweaking. I would do away with the thread creation requirement. It incentivizes creating a bunch of pointless noob threads instead of spending 5 minutes looking up whatever the thread was made on.

Keep firmly in mind that at the end of the day, you can only incentivize engagement, not force it. If it is feasible to do so, make every activity that is beneficial to the site like the ones you listed, and writing reviews net coins that you can spend on perks and ranks. The real meat&potatos is in determining how much a certain activity is worth.

Hmm interesting changes. It makes it MUCH faster in terms of social interaction to hit the requirement, but arguably more time just browsing the site [depending on the person] for people who were trying to get to 350 AC/LC. Honestly, all of these metrics are really easy to hit minus the activity requirement. 25 comment reactions is literally nothing, there are plenty of members who toss out comment reactions to anything that is even slightly engaging, especially in the lurker thread.

I'd argue you could nearly double all of the requirements except activity, and the activity requirement would STILL be the bottleneck. Not saying you should. I think it's a good way to promote interaction without going overboard and helping to avoid comment spam [I was certainly guilty of this when chasing AC at the end of last year].

The activity requirement timeframe seems fine on the surface, but it is going to heavily depend on what kind of activity it's tracking, and if it's accurate. The only sketch requirement is the thread. That really is just going to create spam, even if it's only one per member.

EDIT: Taking a quick peak various user stats in the Lurker thread across a couple pages, the vast majority of users have MORE comment reactions than actual comments. The average is something like 30-50% more reactions than comments, with a lot of them being almost double reactions to comments. Even users with 'low'' reactions still had close to a 1:1 ratio.

Does creating a thread still have a cost? I agree with not gaining LC from a thread you created to avoid people creating spam, but charging a cost to create a thread seems counterproductive.

This isn't an answer to your question because I do not know, but overall it wouldn't matter anyway. The current suggested requirements for M+ would have the user well above the needed LC cost for both the M+ rank and the thread creation cost [assuming it's still 10 coins like previously]. Also, I believe threads you created DID give you LC when other users interacted with it [and I am assuming still do?]. You just couldn't farm coins by posting comments in a thread you created.

Separately, I don't think the thread requirement is a good one to have since it just promotes some thread spam.
