As for a mod

In my opinion the only mod needed is time control

Just gotta be careful to to rewind past 1:00 and not to skip past dates and events

walkthrough makes it bearable, and maybe it'll be much better after i've been away from it and maybe try again.

Very grindy, but overall still a fun game. Biggest complaint is that character routes are NOT clearly flagged as when they're locked in and what causes them, or even which route you're actually on. Without careful planning and monitoring, you can jump to an entirely different option, and it is a very long game if you wanted to restart.
