From a dev point of view I don't see why they don't start dropping random lewd lolis in their AVNs and just forget about using Patreon. Then there'd be no elsewhere to leak it (other than maybe ATF, that hardly anyone goes to, certainly not millions like F95). For giggles make them wear nothing but a pirate hat to self-explain why random renders of them are being used as transition screens in the AVN.

But most devs don't want to intentionally limit the reach of their game, or the support they could possibly get. F95 is likely the biggest platform for lewd VN's, and Patreon for getting financial support. So if you're not making a loli VN anyway it's probably better to just let it be leaked form time to time, and use a patronage platform that most people know, than it is to get yourself and your game banned from said platforms.
I know some devs have gotten so angry at leakers that they stopped development entirely, but that has to be edge cases. Most understand that even pirates can become fans and give financial support, and that some simply aren't able or willing to pay regardless of how much they like a game.

Can't speak for everyone but for me personally I mostly just sub at $1 just to keep up with progress, if I sub at all. Since if it's getting leaked anyway I see no point in subbing at even the next tier up, let the leaker pay for it. As far as reach if one is already getting 2k-3k $5 subs on SS or Backed.by and making probably $70k a year (more than comfortable for places that aren't Manhattan or San Francisco) dunno why they'd want more with Patreon and Steam too, that's just being a greedy bastard. I'm surprised F95 hasn't been sued yet from the bigger devs like Dr. PinkCake (that at this point doesn't need F95 anymore, already has 16k subs and Steam).

You obviously don't know what you are talking about. It does and has when it comes to broken copyright law if one decides to sic their legal dogs on someone (just look at Disney, Nintendo, Google and 100's of other content creators/distributors), though usually the first punch is simply ceast-and-desist letter(s) and a volly of DMCA takedown notices. Ignore those at your own legal peril, especially with a site like F95 that is easy access and based in the US (some pirate sites' servers have gotten the FBI-open-up treatment before like Megaupload did and entered into evidence, or simply reported to hosts and they usually simply ban the account rather than deal with the legal liability, even if the gov't decides to not also seize the domain). Not every site has the resiliency of Piratebay (which still had it's creators eventually sent to prison).

This all sounds cool, but you are comparing serious companies with a “creator” who shares content on Patreon, who does not officially sell anything, who is unlikely to be able to obtain copyright, who uses other people’s presets, who creates porn, who is unlikely to be registered, as legal entity, etc. I would love to see such a weirdo come to court with statements that his free content is posted on another site. LOL!
