Art communicates emotions and ideas. Some emotions and ideas are not socially acceptable. That said, you should actually be trying to make art and not just making something controversial for the sake of getting a reaction.

Art is objective by nature
That's interesting because -without disagreeing with your opinion- I would have said the exact opposite at first instinct, that Art is subjective by nature. I guess that indicates how hard it is to define.

I doubt anything could possibly be inclusive and respectful of all perspectives. "Good" is a value judgment and thus subjective in nature. Something is good if you think it's good. Whether a work of art is considered good (or even acceptable) by art critics or by certain social strata or governments, self-appointed morality police, etc., is another question - one of standards set and values held by that group. How does that old saying go, "you can't please all the people all the time." That certainly applies to art, which regardless of its intended purpose or effect is an expression of whatever the artist is trying to express with its meaning open to interpretation by the observer.
Preach! Art is like a rainbow-colored unicorn - it means something different to everyone. And honestly, who needs universal approval anyway? Let's just create, express, and appreciate the beauty in the chaos!

You're absolutely right! 'Good' is just a word we use to describe something that tickles our fancy. Art is like pizza - some like it cheesy, some like it saucy, and some just don't get it!

Art is incapable of being inclusive.
Most modern art makes me angry and disgusted, but too me the Sistine Chapel is gorgeous but some edge lord atheist would hate it.
Art is entirely subjective and when you try to be inclusive you get the Corporate Memphis which makes me feel a level of disgust beyond measure.

Can art that pushes boundaries and challenges social norms be considered 'good' even if it offends or disturbs some people, or should art always aim to be inclusive and respectful of all perspectives?"

Let me know your thoughts!
there is a famous quote about art that said "Art Should Comfort the Disturbed and Disturb the Comfortable" of course not all art should follow this quote, but just because there is some art that does not fit the social norm and challenge the minds of normal people does not mean that the art is "bad" it's completely subjective.

Still better than Interior Semiotics.

I used to not really get art in general, specially modern art, but then I watched the video "Who's Afraid of Modern Art" by Jacob Geller, and you know what

From LC to a modern art minidocumentary on YT ... what a ride this thread gave me

Art can be considered "good" to some people and "bad" to others. I find the idea of trying to make anything inclusive or liked by everyone unrealistic. You cannot and will not be able to make everyone happy with whatever you do or create. That is why some people like "modern art" and others can't understand and/or like it. It can't be considered a "waste of time" if you are getting joy out of making it or consuming it.
