Is it worth selling your old computer where you are at?

Although my country is under “terrible” sanctions and should be suffocating (but for some reason is not) from the shortage of components, there is no profit from selling a 4-6 year old desktop. The profit doesn't justify the hassle involved in finding buyers. So I just donate old system blocks to friends. Usually I get a bottle of good vodka or brandy as a token of appreciation, that's enough.

not worth it selling your old pc you can use it as backup if your new one have any issue, but it you have to sell it make sure to buy new low price HD and install whatever operating system you use as guest don't use your product key for the operating system, the issue with selling your old HD another user might recovery your old and personal data.

Honestly you can have decent luck selling old PCs on Facebook market place since that’s often local pickup. Selling on places like eBay is harder due to the shipping.

I had a bought couple of new parts for my obsolete pc. I hardly used some of them because I got some upgrades from a friend like a month later. When I went to try to see if I could get some of the money back by selling them on eBay, I realized that I'd barely break even because of the shipping costs. It didn't seem worth the hassle, so I just ended up using the parts to make a spare pc.

I just give mine away. Or use them as a server for a project or something.

my old one is in the attic collecting dust, i keep meaning to get it together and give it my son but i just cba paying for the missing parts.

Selling valuable parts or simply giving away an old PC is the way to go. Obviously, your data drives need to stay with you to be used or destroyed. If you can properly purge one, maybe you can install an OS on it and set it up so that it's plug-and-play for the next user. I have occasionally bought RAM or a data drive to install in an old computer to give away to friends and family. I've gotten rid of at least two or three PCs that way. Keeping an old, decent laptop around as a server machine is a good idea, also. You never know when you could benefit from a private server for gaming, VPN routing, or whatever else. Not that I do it, just a thought.

I shamelessly rely on friends who get rid of their old computers. I don't need the latest or greatest. I just need it to run lol. As far as ssd goes, i would prefer that they be removed, and if the owner doesn't want the data then wipe it clean, and destroy it. I never want any friend of mine to even remotely think I have any personal data.

I just realized my attic is becoming quite full with old computers, every 2-3 years I tend to buy a new computer with latest and greatest hardware. Like i have just put away an 5800x3d computer with rtx3080 nvidia the other day, since I have upgraded to 7800x3d with 7900gre. I always keep my old computers, since I have a lot of room and no need to sell for funds. Does anyone have experience reselling computers? Do you keep the ssd's in or sell without? Is it actually worth selling? What prices would like my 3rd oldest system get it consists of a I9-11900k , 32gb, 1tb nvme ssd, with 6800xt amd. In a rgb case I don't know the name.
O.P, if you need a charity case, I'm willing to suffer 😃 lol
