Is gameplay important to you?

If I wanted to just watch scenes, I’d be on a different website. I play games for gameplay — the spicy stuff is just a bonus.

I need gameplay if I expect there to be gameplay
Like I can sit through a VN with no gameplay at all and still enjoy it
But if I'm playing an RPGMaker game or something made with Unity and it expects me to play a game with mechanics then I want the game to be playable and enjoyable
I don't want an RPGMaker game that acts like a VN and/or has really bad gameplay the game feels like a slog to get through

Depends. The priority shifts with the type of game. Generally story is more important than gameplay. As long as the gameplay isn't actively preventing story progress. (Like grinding)

But for porn games, the quality of the porn takes precedence. So basically any gameplay is ok, as long as it doesn't get in the way.

yeah, a lot. I'm not really into these type of games just for the porn, the porn is a plus don't get me wrong but gamesplay matters.

I prefer to play games rather than watch movies disguised as games. At least if it's not a grind. Grinding is evil.

You're asking the important questions, aren't ya? 😏 I'd say, why choose? Can't a game be both super engaging and, ahem, "adult-oriented"? But if I had to pick, I'd lean towards games that get the balance right – you know, the gameplay is lit, and the sex scenes are, well, let's just say they add a nice cherry on top 🍒. NPC games can be fun, but sometimes I wanna feel like I'm actually playing a game, you know? 🎮 What about you, what's your gaming vibe?

I am not against game play but if its grindy or difficult the scenes have to be really good to make up for it.

I want a good story. Not saying I don't enjoy the scenes, I mean, I know what I signed up for, but I mainly want an engaging storyline.

In a porn game I just need the gameplay to not suck or rather I need it not to hinder sex parts to much. The first 3D magic shop had mini games that were either pointless or tedious to the point of make the payoff (the porn) not worth it.

Think of it like this: If there isn't gameplay, is there really a game? Games require mechanics and features. Mechanics and features are gameplay. Just because you're using a game engine to make something, does not mean it is a game. Now, you can try to argue with me, but you can make games through means that aren't game engines, and you can make animations in game engines so they're really versatile. A large portion of porn "games" like Kinetic Novels (the ones with no choices, mechanics, features, etc.) should be classified as videos or interactive videos. Visual novels usually classify, since the mechanic of choice is implemented. Adding a button is technically a mechanic, but I don't think it should count unless your choice actually allows for deviation. I don't mean "Call her a slut" and "Call her a cumdump" where it changes one single line of dialogue. That should still count as an interactive video.

There is such thing as unnecessary gameplay. If it doesn't fit, or it isn't working, get rid of it or change it. People get caught up on "well, I spent the time to make it, so it stays" but that's not how you get your target audience to come back. Balance is key, and every dev should test their game and make the necessary fixes to make their game actually fun and PLAYable

I am late in my reply (joined the forum recently), but... For me, gameplay is essential. If a game does not have it, or it is mediocre, it is quite doubtful I would be able to finish it. It is, after all, a game. Meant to be played. If you are not playing it, why not just go watch porn of whatever kind you prefer?

Usually is, i dont very much like VN games as there is nothing to do, i love games made in Unreal or Unity.

If the game is just sex then I might as well watch porn. The story and game enhance the sex scene.

In general, there hasn't been much thought given to gameplay in nsfw games and most of the time you end up grinding. So i don't care about the gameplay unless it's related to sex scenes like Honey Select etc.

If its sandbox it is, i don't want to grind for 4 hours just so i can se a 5 second loop animation

Not really, I mostly play for the story, but I don’t mind some mini-games along the way. What I hate is when the gameplay forces you to do things at specific times—like, ‘Oh, to talk to this character, you gotta go to some place on weekends in the afternoon.’
