Is gameplay important to you?

thanks it looks like the spiritual successor of Breeding Season but on unreal engine in full 3D, nice
Yeah. Put a lot of time into it a few years ago, been meaning to get back into it after all the updates its gotten since then.

oh for sure, cloud meadow's pixel art/animations are great. the gameplay itself is mid at best though, unless its gotten a huge overhaul that i'm unaware of

that was one of the few games i got the code for just to unlock the gallery, looked at all the animations, then turned it off and haven't touched since :ROFLMAO:

It depends entirely on the genre.

If it's a Visual Novel then the gameplay isn't that important, apart from dialogues, there's only decision making and exploring the environment.
In a sandbox it's a bit more important, but it's more important that it's well planned and balanced.
Now if we're talking about an RPG... if the gameplay is bad it ruins almost the entire game.

That being said, yes, gameplay is a cornerstone of every game no matter how simple or deep it is.

Assuming "gameplay" means "any kind of game mechanic besides basic VN functionality"

So much "gameplay" in all the AVGs feels so often just like somone trying to tick a box in increase some kind of "audience appeal".

Broken minigames, poorly thought out "sandbox"-elements, or sluggish "action gameplay" more serve ruining a game then anything.

Even if I understand the advantages of engines like RPGM, with their giant asset libraries, it so often feels just like a crutch to solve some "problem" or be able to slap some "tag" onto the game and makes the game less accessible to me.

Gameplay is what sets a good porn game from an amazing porn game. It doesn't need to be in there and with a smaller market it doesn't make financial sense. But if that passion is there and its combines its just amazing.

Most of the games I play are Renpy without sandbox because I want to play easily and not be constantly faced with events and set times.
Also if I see a lot of text and it gets boring then I skip to get to the cutscene or else I continue normally.

If I'm playing a game, I wanna play a game that's at least decently fun to play. If I just want to get my rocks off, I can just play with my pud to anything that isn't a game. So I believe gameplay to be pretty important.

Without story, i loose interest in it almost immediately. Great Story with a great Setup is a must.

I enjoy gameplay but it's not a necessity to me, I don't mind a good Visual Novel with no choices as long as the plot is compelling and the renders are well done

It all depends on the quality of the game. If it's very good, it's nice to play while taking your time.

VN gameplay:

It depends on the type of game, but i usually prefer some gameplay.

Absolutely. A game can look amazing, but if the gameplay isn’t solid, it won’t hold my attention for long

Gameplay is important of course but i believe a game needs and a good story
