Hand drawn, "3d", or ai games?

hand drawn games get an instant "ignore" because they are not my thing (zero stars)
AI games, Ummmm, that depends if they are done well or are just ""toilet shitty poop"" (1.5 to 2 stars)
3D games, depends on how they are made, i seen some real ""toilet shitty poop"" 3D games (3.5 to 5 stars)

but if you asked if which one i would chose to keep if all methods would vanish & there was only going to be one?

it would be 3D cause I've seen some really, really good 3D (self censored because this is a public area)

I find the standard AI 'style' very unsettling, so that's at the bottom. As for models vs drawn I think it's about even for me - I've had large amounts of both be better than the other to pick a winner.

Hand drawn by a mile, even if it's poorly drawn
3d rarely looks good, seems to me like all 3d games reuse assets from the same 3 places

Doesn't matter as long as it is well done.
  • AI art can complement a decent story
  • Good Hand Drawn art can be a nice reward for our effort
  • 3D models, if done correctly (I've seem some demons from hell around here, not the cute succubuses) can be a nice middle ground between fantasy and reality

i just want a game that is not abandoned after 3 years and 2 update ....

Nowadays I've seen an increase in games with 3D-AI which I got mix feelings about it, but for me It goes likes this:

1. 3D
2. Hand Drawn
3. AI

Currently 100% 3d, daz and vam is #1, Hs #2, koikatsu is very hit or miss depending on the dev, some are great, some aren't. I don't like hand drawn at all though I never played one, it just does not appeal to me. At the moment Ai is the worst for now, but I can see it being one of the best in the future (plus I prob won't have to wait a year for updates)

Just depends on if the art is good.

3D seems to be the most consistent.

Honestly... all of them, but if I had to choose
3D
Hand drawn
Ai

I do not like games with AI art. Period.
Between 2D and 3D, I would probably choose 3D

3D can be better than 2D but often looks somewhat off

realistic 3D is mostly horrible and overused, Ai is mostly not curated neither cherrypicked (like they jsut generate it call it a day, effortless), i guess 'handrawn' is still king

It depends on how they are used, handrawn in thesis have less scenes due time and effort constraints so when the author draws something bland it hurts the work more. 3D and AI though have no excuse for poor perspective and quantity of scenes and yet they somehow compete or lose to handrawn games in VN format and 3D also messes up in customization that should be it's main edge. When their strenghts are played 3D and AI can be just as good if not better than handrawn in their niches, but handrawn often already recquires passion so the people who work like that are prone to put more effort and thus end with higher quality products on average

Ai doesnt really look bad just samey and kinda off, id definitely say 3d tho

I like both equally as long as it is well done. A really good 2D game is probably my favorite but there definitely aren't as many of those.

It all depends on personal taste.

Hand drawing has much more merit, but it is also the riskiest option, because not everyone will like your art style or character design, and it may cause people to lose interest in your game regardless of how good the story and content are.

On the other hand, 3D is probably the best option overall. There are different software programs for creating models, and they are different enough from each other to give your game personality and style, although some may feel generic. It is more accessible and faster than learning to draw, and it doesn't require anything other than a keyboard and mouse. But it also has its downside: since it's the most widely used, people are accustomed to a certain “level” of quality and will strongly criticize anything that doesn't meet that standard.

Finally, AI... no. Just no. It gives me the same feeling as shovelware made in UE5. I'm probably being unfair to those games; after all, thanks to AI, developers don't need to learn how to make models or drawings for their games. But again, the AI style gives them that soulless, assembly-line feel.

For me, drawn art has its charm. I’m not into AI-generated stuff, but 3D games appeal to me these days.

I prefer 3d, but hand drawn are pretty good as well
