Good point. Now with AI, one day it could probably be fan made very well. AI is already making decent pop songs. Just a matter of time before decent movies and shows are made.

I dont think AI will ever act well but write I think Hollywood started building a writing AI years ago.

Hizashi no Naka no Riaru (In The Afternoon Sunshine) from Mu soft, one of my all time favorite.

An interaction game (touching, licking, freaking...). Requires a lot of patience, but I still love it despite all the time I played it (a bit similar to Lost Life, available here, but much more complex).

There really should be a genre of games that implement free roam without grind and with a pleasant user experience.


No doing things for money or to raise relationships, just selecting a destination from a decent amount of places and at the destination there is an event to move the story forward, even if it is just a random npc saying what to do next. The npcs could have a variety of statements to entertain and inform, and if the location is part of the story, then it progresses as usual.


I would say that games like SolValley School, where the entire map shows up and the next event is highlighted might fit into this category, minus the npc interactions at empty locations.


Remove the time aspect from many of the games and these would be much better in terms of grind. Having to visit a specific location at an exact time can be overly frustrating. Make the game linear without the time and events trigger when characters interact and the frustration level goes way down.


I appreciate the event notification system much more than going through all the locations to see things, and Desert Stalker is a nice example of that.

There's one game I know that does that, Twisted World. You don't really have to grind anything, you just have to interact with certain characters in the right time of day and after a while you move on to the next main story event. There's a sandbox mode and a vn mode so you can just go through the game at a faster pace, so that's always nice

Bad: a lot of grind, many LI's but low amount of content for each. Many transitions between locations waist your time to hide that game actually has not much content.

Overall Heroes Harem Guild is a grind game like all games, not a VN or KN. What I found different about HHG is that it has interesting writing and the interactions are not filled with empty options. When looking at game play, the entirety of my hours spent were not considered wasted, and the thrown in humor kept me wanting to read the text a lot more than most of the VNs I play.


Sandbox is not something I enjoy, but there are a few games that make sandboxing an element that works. Games like The Raven and My Early Life are grind games that I want to like, but can't get into because I really don't want to spend the time in a boring grind with no direction of what leads to the next event. HHG lays out hints and directions in good enough detail to keep the game flowing to not frustrate the user. Desert Stalker also does this well enough to keep me watching for new releases.

Rimworld can be surprisingly fun. You can customise the difficulty to whatever suits your mood and has plenty of mods.

If you want to role play as a farmer, Farming Sim 22 is currently free on Epic till 30 May.

Medieval Dynasty is not bad but can be a bit of a grind at the start.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an pretty good action RPG with a pretty good story. Don't expect to pick up the first sword your character sees and be the enemy. He will suck and he will die if you get outnumbered. It's the way it's meant to be.

As a few mentioned, Ark, especially modded to remove some of the resource grind can be a lot of fun, even in single player (the only way I play it).

while I get what you and another person are saying, I don't have friends to play with, I don't like horror games in the slightest (they bore me), and my current computer can't run minecraft with too many mods or it blue screens. and yes, that is with just about every possible optimization mod I can get too. the most intensive game I play is Warthunder, on the lowest setting and I'll still drop frames. I have Need for Speed Heat, and it crashes after 2 hours of play. I just can't enjoy games. My Nintendo Switch runs Power Wash Simulator much better than my computer. And I've opened it up and every thing, but I cannot modify it, its a 2 in 1 touch screen

Not just porn games,. I'm just tired of games now with all of them being PvP or battle royale. Every time I die I watch the cam or spectate just to see them obviously cheating. I just give up can can't do it anymore. I don't even have someone to play with. so a single player, story game recommendation would be great, because I just can't do competitive anymore, I want to enjoy games again but no game seems to be good enough, finished, or within my hardware limits. I don't see how people enjoy these games when there is a cheater in every match. My computer can't even run cheats for most games. I just need something that has replay value, because modded Minecraft only goes as far as the mod makers, and I just can't find motivation to make anything myself, because when I do, I just loose interest.

Try out No Mans Sky

It gives a ton of value for the bug as its constantly getting free updates, each basically an entire expansion to the game with zero additional costs. All you need is a internet connection if you wanna play with friends or you can play even without and solo just need a net connection for updates

- Its sitting at update no 30 atm, can be played on almost any platform (except mobile)

- Since it was developed for last gen it should run smooth on most hardware, unless your gaming setup is more than 15 year old

- The game has no pvp, unless you wanna roleplay with friends or the pvp community for which you have to make some ingame setting changes for friendly fire.

- If the building aspect of minecraft was fun to you, you can go wild in NMS too.

- You can play the game however you want in different modes like survival or perma death and freely set difficulty to your needs.

- Since most aspects of the game are procedually generated its gonna give you basically endless replay value even without the mindboggling free updates. However you will never be able to explore everything in the game, as there 18 quintillion planets and if you live long enough you may rather see our sun turn into supernova before mankind will be able to visit all of them

- It has a unique story that gets expanded with every update

- You can name every system, planet, fauna or flora you explore and generate permanently for other players to come across, since all your progress is automaticaly uploaded on the servers if you play online.

- You can have multiple customizable bases, ships, weapons and a freighter that you can easilly travel back and forth with via portals and share or showoff to friends in real time.

- You can play it first person, third person or in VR

- There are some community events that give you unique items, but you wont missout cause they go into rotation.

However if you dont like the sci fi genre the devs are releasing a similar game called "light no fire" somewhere this year which has a fantasy setting, is also procedually generated and given hellogames track record will prolly put every other game ever-created to shame regarding updates
LNF will require you to upgate your gaming gear tho, but as is for me personally, its the only game that makes me wanna buy a new gaming system which i might later this year
