If someone's going to take the time to lovingly craft a story, the least I could do is read it. Assuming their writing is good, of course, and it becomes evident fairly quickly which way they lean on that spectrum. Poor writing gets discarded swiftly from my machine.

If it's a Blackheart Games release then I'm reading it all. Otherwise, I tend to read a bit, skip a bit, read a bit, skip a bit. Never been a full skipper. If I find myself wanting to skip everything I'll close the game and move on to something else.

I"m a pretty fast reader so I can usually read every third or so screen while skimming the two inbetween and still understand what's going on most of the time

I'm Usually just drawn in by the art style and characters so i give it about 30-40 minutes before I start skipping. if you can't tell a compelling story at that point or get me to care about the characters at all at that point I just assume you're never going to.

For me, plot and convincingly written characters always come first. So I read everything very carefully. If the plot is weak (this happens in 80-85% of cases) I delete the VN or the game without the slightest regret.

For example, I deleted “23 Sisters” 30-40 minutes after I started to get acquainted with this project. Sex is just a spicy addition to the story. If I want porn, I download regular porn videos.

Some have great stories i would like to add that DMD was a great VN

But when playing, I give the story a chance. If it is written well, it adds to the experience. But if it's a convoluted mess (Neko-Hime...) or is just filler, I start skipping it.

I'm kind of a hunt and peck reader. I'll try to read a new avn story but at a certain point when it becomes too long and boring I'll skip and stop randomly and try to read again when a sex scene starts. It all depends if the author is native English or using a lot of foreign sh I don't understand and how the writing seems to me. Interesting or boring.
