The story is important for me. But even I sometime feel the need to skip. But if I find myself skipping more than I engage in the story and read it, then the game is clearly not for me. Might aswell play another one then.

Depends if the story is good or not. A lot of the time the story is mediocre and the only way I can get through the game is by skipping.

Most games I'll skip some sections, or skim through text quickly. Every once and awhile I play a game that really grabs me and I have to read everything. Desert Stalker is an example of a game I've actually really enjoyed reading all the way through.

mostly a skipper
readering on rare occasions

Hello fellow players, are you more of the concentrated readers who want to understand the story? Is that important to you or do you always skip to the "exciting" parts without understanding the context?
( i use Google Translator =D )
i sometimes do after the first run

On the first run of a game/path, i usually read most parts. Then when I play repeatedly I always skip.

Not many games I don't skip I'm afraid. I'm usually time limited. I make an exception if I really enjoy a game. Neko paradise was the last one.

I read it, and if I find that I am skipping too many lines I just delete the game. I only skip lines if the writing is bad. I can’t stand when characters talk like they have never had a conversation before.

Read the first time, get the story I wanted, then skip to get all the scenes

For me, plot and convincingly written characters always come first. So I read everything very carefully. If the plot is weak (this happens in 80-85% of cases) I delete the VN or the game without the slightest regret.

For example, I deleted “23 Sisters” 30-40 minutes after I started to get acquainted with this project. Sex is just a spicy addition to the story. If I want porn, I download regular porn videos.
I think I lasted a bit longer than that with 23 sisters, but totally agree with this. The story and jokes were very juvenile, the introduction of the sisters became very much "and here's another cardboard cutout sister to fuck", and the whole story jumped the shark very early on.

Given that much of what I'm here for is incest, I NEED the story, I need to understand and believe that the MC is related to the people he's fucking, otherwise it's no better than the cheesy "Stepbrother, please help me, I got stuck in the washing machine" videos on the hub. Without the story it becomes just visuals, and freely available video streaming sites are much lower effort if all you want to see is a specific act or combination (M+ content notwithstanding!)

Depends, is it interesting to me

I try not to skip but have been guilty from time to time.

i skip when the writing gets too boring or too dumb, i really love when games have a good history and writing

I usually always read. I might skip parts. But if a game is so uninteresting to me that I want to skip everything, I'll just skip the game entirely.

Depends on how much text are we talking about. If the quality of the text is good and the story is engaging, I never skip it and even sometimes roll back when I lose an idea about what they were talking about. However, as someone else has pointed out, when there's just too much text, because of describing every little detail and going in circles, I have no shame skipping it

I usually only skip if the story is kinda boring or really poorly written

I read everything and carefully
But if the story does not convince me or the playability is not great
I just quit, regardless of the rest

A few years ago, when I had hours a day to spend not having to worry about being productive, I would read.
But now adays my ADD is too strong and I ain't got time for all that.

Generally, I'll kinda lightly tap the skip button to jump like 5-10 clicks at a time, and just kinda skim/keep an eye of the story,
if it starts actually looking interesting (The beginning of stories is always really tough for me to get through, I just want to be in the thick of it lol) then I'll slow down and start reading.
If they actually manage to get me to care about the characters, then I'm really reading, but I tend to be too jaded to give a crap about new characters anymore.

This depends. If the story is good I will full read. If it's ass I will skip all that shit to get to decisions or scenes.
