Abandoned VN Ren'Py DAZ Father, Teacher, Villain [v0.2.0] [Abacus Games]

Was I the only person who actually read the 0.2 changelog?

It talks explicitly about setting up back-end code specifically to support content patching. Everything the dev has done since the update that removed most of the content has pretty obviously been intended to set the game up so that he can add that content back in via patch.
People don't use their head's. They panic like "OMG THE GAME IS RUINED!". Instend of reading and understanding what is right in front of them.

I don't mean this in any kind of way to judge or insult anybody, but IDK why folks are trying to play this right now anyway, TBF. I mean, I know saves are broken so they'll have to start over at some point, so I can see maybe wanting that to be out of the way. But to me it makes sense to wait until patching is actually available. Then you can do the restart required while also having a patch for returned content or whatever else those could include. You know, kill two lolis with one dick... or something.

I am 100% with you on this. I'm following but not playing, since there just isn't much content there yet. Looking forward to when it's a playable game with the intended content. (And there are a lot of games out there that fit my tastes anyway, enough that I am literally never out of game updates to play as long as I also have a job that takes up a good portion of my day.)

Tried the latest version, unfortunately there wasn't much in it and I still far prefer the old version before the re-make.

Quite right. It also would help if folks read the comments before making more. Then they wouldn't have to post that the game is no longer any good.

This is the disadvantage of incentivizing postings. I get why it's done, and in many ways it improves the site immensely. But I wish the site had some AI that could comb through the comments and delete the ones that don't add any value. Then you'd be forced to be thoughtful about your comments and it would strip out most of the filler that those of us trying to pay attention to threads have to plough through.

ill put this to the side for now. ill wait for the loli patch to come out as right now alot of things fill out of place due to it being moved out to a possible? patch

I dunno why people bother with making separate patches. Ketzal/SSP got tired of self-censorship and loli patches after 4 updates, which just proves if it's done to kiss F95's asses that site is overrated since he made it his day job not long after anyway. If it's for legal reasons a separate patch won't protect you, and if it's to get on Patreon, Itch or Steam they will ban it anyway if/when they find out about the existence of a patch.

You make some good points. But I think wanting it to be allowed on various sites is actually a smart move overall, from simply a marketing perspective. Sure, 99.99% of people playing any game on a pirate site aren't going to support. But for the 0.01% who do subscribe, it can only help you get closer to being able to do this for a living regularly. And, in cases where you're already there, it can help with buying more/better assets or whatever else you might want to improve your creation.

And while I disagree with P.T. Barnum that "There's no such thing as bad publicity", getting your name out there without sabotaging yourself is sort of the name of the game if you want to make it as an indie creator of any type, in any forum. There will always be lurkers who, for whatever reason, see your content on that one day when they're in a different mood and decide to support you when on any other day they wouldn't. So patching to get yourself allowed on sites where exposure will be increased make sense, at least from a certain perspective, regardless of what you think of those sites.

VPN + Adbock = what ads and malware?

well, even the "lolis" have tits so to me it makes little sense to go lower than 12. Not sure it can go lower than that as I didn't try, but sometimes with age setters that's a usual limit for some reason. I really wish devs would just use default intended ages instead of have people guessing while everyone pretends they are fake 18's like usual. Unless they're in Australia or North Korea or something.
why the fuck would i want to do all that when gofile exists use fucking gofile problem solved

?
when i made that comment they didnt have gofile here had a lot of random poorly used ad infested file sharing sites

In case of SSP, the quality itself sells the game. I can't sub any game due to technical reasons, but if I would be able to do it, SSP would be the first and foremost.

Click people - click character pic - click characters age which should be orange and change it to whatever you want. Same for first name of a character just click the name and change it. The characters name will change as well as it will change in other characters profiles as well if the changed character name is listed there.
Great, but it would also be handy if you set the age of one girl in a given grade/class the rest of the girls in that same grade/class changed.

It's especially annoying to have to manually adjust when part of the descriptive text is already saying that xx and yy are the same age.

Well, correct, I do the same thing. I wait for patch before "spoiling" new story content to myself in a lackluster form.

But, for one, people are different. Some prefer to play right away. Some even may not mind the game in a censored form. And, for two, it helps and motivates the dev through giving him feedback on his presented work so far. Imagine, as a dev, instead getting "yeah, noone will play that, go play that loliless creation yourself, bud".

So, the MC is the professor, or he's going to turn into him? Time travel or actual dead guy with work that he inherits to boost his own? I dunno, I'm enjoying it.

As a note, while GoFile is a good host, it is not the be-all/end-all. Unlike other hosts, GoFile has an extremely strict expiration policy. If a GoFile link is not used at least once in a full ten-day period, the link expires permanently. It's fine for new updates, but if a dev goes a long time between releases, prioritizing GoFile is actively bad for their game's exposure.

Should just perma seed a torrent, problem solved. Dunno why people still use 3rd party file lockers, free versions of those will be going the way of the dodo soon enough anyway, since with VPNs that circumvents download limits to where almost no one pays = long-term unsustainable since someone has to pay for that bandwidth.

Exactly! In my experience, travelling between a few countries, some of the services work in one country and others don't, and vice versa. It would be so much easier to use torrents in all cases. Also, there's no limit on the download size for torrents.

I hate to admit this, but some of us older folks are irredeemably stupid when it comes to torrents. The beauty of gofile and similar is that they're one click fits all.

Exactly, if your AVN isn't just average or less and stands far above the rest word of mouth on Discord is enough for 1400+ subs (closer to 1700 when a new update is out). I subbed as soon as I saw it since I knew F95 was going to ban it like most loli AVNs at some point.

It's not hard to figure out and also worth it in the long run. Since getting a VPN to keep my ISP from bitching about copyright crap like 10-15 years ago I now have more movies and tv shows than Netflix (about 110k or so, prob won't even watch 1% of them), so I quit paying those guys every month back when they were still shipping DVD's in the mail.

Most vanilla AVNs good enough for sites like Patreon don't even make $100/mo these days, so the self-censorship really isn't worth it (it wouldn't be to me at least). There's just too many of them to stand out and just about all are quite boring (at least to me). Like I told Blackheart when he was banned on F95 that alone is a bragging right/selling point, and means your AVNs aren't just a bunch of average ones among 5000 others. I'm reminded of A Serbian Film. Banned in a list of countries, but that just makes people wanna see why it was banned so they go hunt it down, when otherwise most wouldn't give an obscure foreign movie a second thought (and yes, it's fucked up).
