Does step-"incest" kills the fetish for you?

I think the opposite. I believe that some games are programmed with the intention of being in this "niche" but are blocked by the platforms where they are sponsored. Sometimes the idea is so clear that we see some characters like mother and son who are very similar, and they end up in the program changing the form of their relationship so as not to be caught in the scrutiny of sponsorship platforms, so no. Creating patches for me doesn't ruin the experience.
I get that there are people that like it, and I don't really have a problem with it when the story is clearly made for it, my issue is with the people that act as if incest and step-relative are the same, or even try to incorporate a mod to something that clearly don't fit

My biggest issue that I forgot to put in the initial post, is that they are not the same, and yet people try to pass them in a lot of adult media as being the same

Kind of. Step sister is like not actually related at all and probably 100% legal to fuck if both of age.

Yes. It feels like a cop out most of the time. You could make a non-incest game if you want, but if you want to add incest then you should commit to it.

Hmm no, not really. It's a nice thing when they allow you to put your relationship with characters and sometimes i leave it as is if it's not really all that bad in dialogue. BUT, i can't fucking stand the whole Landlady and roommate bs, it's much more annoying

Yes, it's a major turn-off. When I go into a game with the incest tag then surprise it's not incest at all it pisses me off and I can't hate fab, not the type of person. I can play games without incest just fine, but the tag promises one thing, and the dev giving something else just puts me off it. It's a real mood killer.

I get you but sometimes the devs have to change things to circumvent some site's restrictions. It's why the whole landlady/tenant thing started.

Sure, I get that, but make a patch if you do that. I have worked with many devs over the years it's so easy to put out a patch on a second account that you use for nothing but that patch or just pass it off to one of your followers to release. Tons of other ways around it.

Yeah, that's what most do. Or sometimes people with some programming knowledge create one. That's why for the most part it's not a deal breaker for me

It's fascinating how a simple label can make such a difference and destroy the immersion of otherwise brilliant games - what language can do...

Or set it for the player to input the relationship - since the Patreon Gestapo looks for patches, too..

Kind of? I think if it's super obvious that it's actually incest and the developer is just covering their ass, it comes off as pretty dumb. If they game is actually meant to have those relationships, I think it's totally fine.

I do like it that way also, but only if the dev gives clues about who is who. I have played some that if I did not look it up on the forums, I would never know what their relationships are meant to be. One of the best is Welcum to the city has a great system. If I was making a game in renpy I would "borrow" that code.

I had never seen it that way, but I've gotten used to the fact that obviously because she's not a sister and you put a sister label on her, I perceive her as a sister.

So for me, it makes no sense, as much as I really like is, I really dislike when they get a game that is clearly not incest, and make a mod for it adding especially when it's mother-son/father-daughter, you can tell how shit the conversations gets

The step crap is worse in my opinion not only because there are people that act as if a step anything is the same as someone related by blood (even talking with disgust to a relationship), but also because they lose most of the point of incest, especially when the steps-"insert relationship here" have known each other for a very small amount of time which is how it is most of the time (and my biggest problem with it), If at least they made something like parents marrying when the kids where 1, and they grew up doggeder, or the mother/father got married when the kid is a baby you can even make an argument, but noooooooooooo
for my it kind of does, it depends on the quality of the games

language can many things not just this.

No, under no circumstances. True, I'm not a fan of incest, but I'm not allergic to it either. A number of games where the MC interacts with his stepmother and stepsisters make sense (Mystwood Manor, Amnesia). And to add incest to these games is an unnecessary multiplication of entities. Besides, for the same Amnesia for five years no one has been able to create a working incest patch (and thank God, but in fact the developer made it so that all the efforts of patch creators turned out to be meaningless). I'm much more annoyed by various “roommates” and so on.

It can work in some cases, like the step-sister in Waifu Academy has some of the best scenes in that game. Overall though I agree, the blood relation is a very strong factor in the taboo
