You need time to make a quality product and people finally figured it out.
I guess the pandemic period was the perfect time for experimentation. Lots of people with lots of free time all of a sudden, and sitting too comfortably on the Dunning-Kruger line to understand what they were getting themselves into, meant that a lot of content was made quickly. But then came the realization that they have to keep on doing it, for a long time, with their free time now coming to an end, and so the natural filter took most of them out. Those who survived the filter are now upping the standards with each new game they release. As it should be, more quality, less content for content's sake.
