Do you want immersion?

Absolutely. Otherwise, what's the point of playing? Another thing is that not every developer can achieve this, which is not surprising - after all, we are dealing with amateur projects here.

One reason I play these games is for an escape from the grind of real life...but I actually need a game to be immersive to achieve this

Prefer the immersion, when a story gets you, the porn is so much more rewarding. I also like the porn only games, for just a quick flight out of reality. But only immersive games make me come back.

Immersion is good though not something i feel is a requirement.

Always. I have only played a few AVNs that have achieved any sense of realism and immersion.

The question is how many games are that immersive? Not many in my experience

I don't like it when the game is waaaaaaay to detailed about the story, I'm not trying to watch a movie, give me the short version.

Getting invested in a story and its characters is kind of the point of making a game.
Sure some silly games are fun and short, some clickers, some puzzles and so on. But the jewels are always the ones with a good written story that allows the player to immerse himself in it for many hours and almost feel like it is real. A very different experience than just watching porn for the sake of it.
Not that I would know, because I never watched any form of porn.

I'm not sure how much real immersion you can count on with adult games. As a general rule of thumb, if the writer gets me invested in the story and the fates of the characters (both MC and LIs), then that's a win in my book.

If someone wants to immerse themselves in a sea of vaginas with no story, wouldn't they also want immersion? 😂

But yeah, balance is preferable. An ok story with no quick fap but no overly long teasing or grinding (depends on the grinding)

I'll take comedy 100 percent of the time. Sex is already half a degree off from absurdism, it's not just healthy but actively fun to embrace it for what it is.

I want game immersion. X-rated content is a bonus, but doesn't have to be.

There's a lot of very silly porn games out there, that usually feel completely detached from reality, which might be a good thing.
Then there are some very immersive games with good storylines that aren't completely off the rails.

What do you guys prefer in nsfw games?

I can only do some types of tags if the game is shallow. In general I prefer to get lost in a deep game.

I want immersion to a point, maybe not a joke every five minutes where it ruins the flow but also not too immersed so that I still remember that its just a game.

I played a game yesterday called Absolute Power Corruption - and that game remains true to itself, setting a frame of a fantasy world where magic is real, where MC receives great power and goes on to have a hormone fueled blast of a time. At no point does this game breaks immersion, characters are extreme but plausible (in the given game universe), so yeah, it achieves immersion.
Consider for a moment the situations where a character or meta-character (often the avatar of the developer) address the player, typical with information that 'await future updates', wouldn't that be considered immersion-breaking?

Other examples of immersion-breaking include coffeecups left on set (Andor, Fallout) and when noted that breaks immersion.
So I'd argue that immersion is merely a measure of how true a game is to itself, realism might be what you're searching for if you're looking for a term that determines how wierd a game universe is (in comparison to our own).

To follow up, a good example of a game that breaks immersion, or rather is untrue to itself, is Summertime Saga - especially in the latest versions which contain less content than earlier, and you get an 'under construction' notice if you interact with something that is not currently in game.

Not to shame the game, just pointing out that if you ever try to interact with a complete mundane object and somehow get the information that this object is currently under construction, that would certainly break your world view.

It all depends on the game. But personally I prefer the immersion

i prefer immersion to the point it make me forget it’s a game, now that's art. I think the closest i can get was Malignant
