It would have to be something novel that only games can do for it to get AAA funding / reception. I could see a game with porn elements, but not just standard porn games reaching that standard. I don't personally see it, but who knows, maybe I'm not thinking big enough.

Let's have an example: are porn actresses or onlyfans models showing hardly anything making more money? That would be option 2. There is far more money in milking the promise of something than actually showing it.

We already have wildly succesfull softcore mainstream games pushed to the market the likes of Genshin Impact cashing in on the same principle. I don't see where the market for mainstream straight porn games would be.

NLT media is famous for their comics so they have earned a lot. The only issue they make their game in RPGM. If they move the roaming part in Unity or Unreal Engine it can be a AAA game.

I believe it's possible. Not sure what effort is required or things to be done, but we've gone from Playstation polygon Tomb Raider to AAA franchise. Pretty sure at one point, one game will be developed well enough to fit in AAA standards. Just keeping my dreams up, you know~

Current mass media are getting more and more conservative in showing sexual stuff. You will be having all pronouns and genders, but no sex. It's safer for business

Nah I just don't think so. Most retailers wouldn't allow it. Even if they sold it on their own website Idk if it would make back the development costs.

That would be wild. I doubt that would be a thing anytime soon. First thing first, I think games needs to improved overall first, the creative industry is faltering

I don't think it will happen, with the cost of a AAA game, the little you could promote it and the limited audience you have, I think you would always have economic losses.

Things like baldur's gate 3 and cyber punk are the closest we'll get and to me thats fine. I dont need a whole game to revolve around sex. It is nice when it shows up in a game, especially if it goes with the story and not forced.

yea this also makes the most sense to me. plus i cant see a big studio pumping loads of cash into a porn game.
